It's definitely not mine, although couldn't resist pricking Grahs ears up 🤣

They aren't for me personally, eat money between chains and wear parts and rarely generate sensible returns. Mate James's who to be fair has it right with these things under the context of if the rates not right it can sit in the shed.

Around 1700 ton per day layered rolled and filled out of 8 Leggers. Not the best stuff in all honesty but suitable fill material of single source to comply with claire license. 726 will knock out around 10t at a time.... Set the site up right and you'll push 20t down a channel ramp and spread at the base.

Personal opinion the Liebherrs are the best dozers to sit in..... Other opinions may vary.

Sealed up and rolled as the rain came in this evening..... Last day tomorrow and I suspect we will just be stockpiling it.

I’m not interested what They’re like to sit in, just what they’re like to operate.

tbh I haven’t tried a Liebherr dozer and it’s a good few years since I was in one of their tracked loaders. I’ve been emissions testing in a D5 (what was the D6N) and it’s the nicest Cat I’ve been in by a margin. 3 speed auto and locking torque converter.

Any more pictures of the job?

Same thing? That said I suppose most do actually just sit in it and don't do bugger all 🤣 In all honesty I don't think I've sat in a more comfortable machine of any type and part of the reason is to give my wrist a break for a week which I have achieved. Cab nice, comfort, blah. She's a 2016 so older than you'd realise but James keeps them right. Previous tractor was a D5N with the nice brake turn paddles.

The drive takes a little getting your head round and I suspect it depends massively on the operator how you choose to drive it. I personally stick it in eco, push the stick right forward and use the decel still for feathering into piles or finer grading (TBF that's a lie, rough grading 🤣) you limit travel speed by setting upper limits on your gears. I tend to have 1st at 4kph, 2 at 6 and 3 at 7. Not sure exactly how the "gearing" works and have been told conflicting things. I'm inclined to believe it's just upper limits on the hystat but never actually looked it up. Might now you've piqued my interest.

Maintenance wise, blade has grease points. Main blade frame bottom assembly is supposedly sealed for life 🤔 all in all (she is kept at lowish hours) I don't think there has been much issues. A sensor here and I think we had a issue with the chains (similar to cats system 1 but German) that was rectified under purchase.

Not taken many pictures of the job. It's boring wet and cold. Basic Key trench put in last year and layering on top at about 200-300mm before rolling and repeating. Benching into hillside where suited to step key it in.

Not sat in a brand new Cat or Kommie. Last one would of been a T so a few years back. But as said 2016 lieb would take some beating in my book. Talking to Lionel about his one the other night he is impressed as well.

Don’t know how liebherr’s system works but the settings sound similar to the Cat hystats. You can preset forward and reverse ground speed independently and all that does is set the displacement of the pump. No physical gears. (Some Cat hystat wheeled loaders have a mechanically shifted drop box - you have to stop to shift ranges)

The decel pedal can be set to slow the engine then apply the brake, or slow the ground speed at constant revs. I hardly ever use that setting. You push the drive lever into position and either use the decel pedal or you can change ground speed on a thumb wheel on the go. There are settings for implement response, steering response and forward/reverse modulation. I doubt many regular operators use the slow or soft settings, too boring.
