How bad of an idea would it be to get the V10? From what I have read it doesn't look too bad on fuel.

My tdv8 range rover does about 18mpg towing. Which is not far off what the trucks do. Best ive got for towing mpg is the hilux

Thought about getting one before we bought the smax, only issue with the V10 is what should be simple jobs is a two day affair involving a 4 post ramp. Alternator and sump gasket is engine out. Driveshafts are prone to failing. Everything has a V10 tax

Hmmmmm  ... but they'm all the bloody same ... have toyed with the idea of a TDV8 L322 several times, but as said ... alternator issues (which they're known for)... damned near body off :oops::cry: .... WTF does one buy these days ??????

At least you can lift the body off the LR and apparently is a quick job as long as you have a lift, the touareg has to be up on a ramp and the engine dropped out the bottom onto a movable platform. Turbos are also prone to leak on them

Well I won the auction so we will see if it's any good in the next couple of days. I thought about a range rover, they are a bloody lovely place to be but I'm not brave enough to own one. Looking forward to driving something with more than 160hp.

and that's the issue with 'em ..... being brave enough to OWN one ...... 90% of the damned things on the road are leased ... let someone else fix it ... they're lovely when they're going ... PITFA when they're not ... and a money pit to boot

HAd a disco 3 commercial for years, lovely motor. The new disco looks like a slappers handbag so ditched the marque. Can’t justify dropping 60k on a defender van either. Bad enough getting the dealer to fix s**t when it’s in warranty.

I’m in a little BMW M series licence loser at the moment ...

'swhy I went to Rangies ... was taught to drive quickly by my old man ... 30 year traffic cop and one of Gwent police's top driving instructors .... when all the bloody cameras started appearing everywhere, I bought summat slower than my SD1 Vitesse, which had the potential to kill my license in a couple of miles, but wanted V8 under the bonnet.
Like the old man used to say ... cameras just ain't cricket - getting caught by a 'jam sandwich' is a fair cop .. anything else is cheating !!

How is the touareg working out? My shogun has died and if I can't fix it I'm looking at getting one of these.
Working out good for me, don't get as much heavy use as I'd planned but it's good at towing and easier on fuel than mt transit (When you drive easily  which don't always happen) Uses about the same towing as empty was is good!

I Had my eye on a few of these when looking, Bid on a few on ebay! I probably would have went for one If this one hadn't came up fairly local! The V6 goes like F~~K and pulls like a train, the V10 must be an animal! A scania in disguise

As far as i was told the l322 is not a body off its only the rr sport that you can take body off.

I have an alternator go on my 4.4 l322 (jag v8 engine) everyone said its rad pack out ect ect. Nope i fed it in n out without issues from underneath...it took me longer to unclip the elec connector than to do the job....i hate them stupid elec connectors.

I've done the alternator on my TDV6 disco, only had to take the rad fan and upper air intake off.

Apparently there is a lower spec defender coming out, at around 25k.........

In 2021.

Land rover have f***ed up by releasing such an expensive defender, fair enough there is quite a market for the mummy crowd but the core market was always farmers/utilities/forestry which have now all moved on to pickups

Plus them clowns are also planning to release an electric version at 100k 🤡
