It's a Rover SD1 V8 - 3.5Ltr with a Vitesse model's mechanicals grafted into what was a very tidy shell (the Vitesse's shell had 'died') - they're my favourite car (those and 2.8i XR4x4i Sierras) - have had dozens of them - ran many SD,s, scrapped out a lot !! they were a very fast motor in their day with loads of grunt and a great 'sound track'

Owned and run all three of these Dolly Sprint was fun but fragile .. Princesses were comfy distance eaters and went well enough 'driven' well (mate had a Scirroco and could never keep up with my 1800 Wedge) - great tow-ers too, but the SD,s (had to be a V8) would show them all the way home - would have another Vitesse in a heart beat (but not at the prices they're changing hands for these days)

My old man attended a multiple fatal on the 449 maaany years ago, on a christmas eve - tranny collided with a pair of double 10.00-20s off the back of an artic trailer, that'd detached from the axle, in front of him ... mounted the central crash barrier and landed upside down on an oncoming car with 4 kids and their parents - impact estimated at 100+MPH .. both vehicles roofs detached each other - no one survived -- point of this detail is .. it upset the old man like I'd never seen before - first on the scene, perhaps a minute or two after it occurred, patrolling the 449 - wheels were still spinning on the tranny ..he couldn't stand the sight of anything red for months - PTSD just wasn't a thing back then - I was a young kid, but can vividly recall the effect it had on him - he'd dealt with some tish/carnage regularly, but must've been pretty horrific - he burnt his uniform, etc. - was beyond cleaning - a scene of devastation much like the above

Saw something like that a few years ago and this brought back things i wish i could forget.

It was winter time, but the roads were mostly clear. A group of 8 (20-22), about my age at the time, were racing around some back roads of Vojvodina, flew past me going 100+ mph. About 20 minutes later i found the wrecks. Twisted and mangled beyond recognition. It was like stumbling onto the set of a Final Destination movie. Called the cops who took about 45 minutes to get to the scene, while i trying to figure out if anyone of them was alive, had to go from car to car and what i saw i cannot even describe with words. Things like that...they scar your mind for life.

re biggest tree, there’s a baobab near Vic Falls on the Zim side that’s just over 132’ circumference. Somewhere I have a photo of me standing next to it in 1995. It’s probably bigger now. It’s not tall like a redwood, probably only about 100’-ish at a guess.

was at a local 4x4 trials sesh once, many years ago on steeper terrain than that - - lightweight landy parked at the top of a slope on wet grass - couple of guys leaning on it and it was away - sideways got half way down the bank - caught a wheel in summat and did the rest of the hill rolling - was looking pretty sorry for itself when it eventually got stopped by an old oak that'd probably seen it all before

Don't know where best to put this as don't think it deserves its own thread but definitely worthy of note as I know a few on here get involved with this kind of stuff.

We had DCR from Cardiff come out for a demo today. They supply lots of drain surveying and repair equipment. They brought a whole van load of kit down with them lots of cameras and Milwaukee, the 18v stick pump is a real weapon of a thing and the Milwaukee 18v mechanical drain cleaner was a really nice thing.
But the biggest thing of note for people on here was this camera. 40mm camera on it so can work on waste pipe but it has a tilt and rotate camera head on it. So can rotate and look left and right as controlled from the tablet.

Depends which way you look at it though. Expensive against some cameras but the one they where demoing us was £15,000. And had a crawler system with them at £25,000

Did you test the pump?
Not heard much about the M18 but plenty of good about the m12 one
