Pickup Tyres - Alternative to BF Goodrich?

Ive got goodyears on my hilux, im happy with them wearing very well done about 7k miles and showing no wear.
Ive not been stuck yet and they are quiet and well mannered on the road!

Wildpeaks probably the best tyres I had on my old ranger, what ever you don't go for the radar/patriots have found them to be s**t

King David in Tredegar used to be the best place in the area for FLT and truck tyres - Always bought mine from there for the H80C and me cranes (y)

Having a set of the Falken Wildpeak AT3W fitted tomorrow afternoon. Cheaper supplied and fitted at local protyre through their website than I could find supply-only online! Just wanted something with a bit more bite in winter weather than summer tyres.

I have Michelin cross-climate on my van for the winter, seem pretty decent but not too aggressive.

I've done 80k on my BFG's now and they have become noisy and miss shaped with uneven wear especially on the fronts. Probably time for a new set before winter sets in. How long are people getting out of these alternatives? 7 years and 80k out of a set of tyres really isn't bad is it. Although they are serious money new now!

Could be good . Dya know what load rating ? You have a 3.5T MAN from memory ? Should be okay for me

My last set of BFG started to delaminate after 7 years and they still had over 6mm tread left. I wasn’t happy! They were on the campervan so fairly well loaded.
I don’t think I’ve ever punctured one nor broken one though. I do think they probably do offer good long term value

How many other sets do you go through in 80k? I reckon grabbers are only good for 20k maybe 30 if you push it. Half the price a corner. Do the math.
BFGs still my go to. Happily sit on mway for 5 hours at 80...I mean 70 obviously cough and yet still get me out the crap off-road .
Negatives little twitchy in wet and tad noisy but I don't really notice it and usually got tunes on.
Never done a Sidewall and yet twice on grabbers.

Having said that on defender I may go grabbers as a tad better behaved on road and not much off-road use.

Tyres are a proper marmite topic... everyone has an opinion...but I've found tyre guys generally really do rate BFGs...

Will see how much a set of 225/70/R16s will set me back

Are these for your Mk7 that’s just had the engine? It would originally have 215/75/16, about £170 supply only from camskill with a small bit of cash back, or protyre £197 fitted but with £25 cashback per tyre.

thought BFGs had a lifetime warranty??
