If registered and for road construction it is,don't forgetstill not legal on UK roads![]()
a cyclist could over take me much to my disgust.
turbo'll make no real difference ... it's hydrostatic drive on a duck and dependent on oil flowWhat's a modern duck like on the road. Let's say going up an average hill what kind of speed can it maintain. Mine is deffo only about 5mph on a hill- a cyclist could over take me much to my disgust. No turbo on mine supposedly the newer 295 which the previous owner has upgraded too is only quicker on the hills but about the same on the level

" road construction, maintenance and repair -- any operator who wishes to tow has to apply for the VSO – and a vehicle must fulfil certain criteria to qualify .. VSOs are limited to 20mph and not permitted on motorways. If you use your engineering plant machinery for any purpose other than those described above – or without a valid VSO issued by the VCA – it will still be illegal. The new trailer towing legislation explained | JCB

Bs isn't it. Yet you see 13t 360 on tractors knowing full well they aren't complying" road construction, maintenance and repair -- any operator who wishes to tow has to apply for the VSO – and a vehicle must fulfil certain criteria to qualify .. - Measure less than 8 metres in overall length.
- Be unladen; be carrying excavated materials having completed the construction, maintenance or repair of a public highway; or be returning to collect more material.
- Be being used solely for the carriage of materials and tools required for construction, maintenance and repair of public roads. " ............ I do not recall anything about tools in the original statement !! - the quoted page is JCB's slant on it
My point was you can actually legally tow one ...albeit only on a full moon and with jcbs blessing and providing your Duck identifies as a hydrapig" road construction, maintenance and repair -- any operator who wishes to tow has to apply for the VSO – and a vehicle must fulfil certain criteria to qualify .. Yes that's what I was thinking but why do they bother fitting them then?turbo'll make no real difference ... it's hydrostatic drive on a duck and dependent on oil flow

more donkeys per cube from a smaller lump, etc., etc.! for working the machine withYes that's what I was thinking but why do they bother fitting them then?

so you go up in low and get there a few minutes later ... TIME againI can't imagine trying to encourage a trailer up a hill as well as the duck! Be fine in low but high forget it
Yeah I get what your saying about the time. But I'd say it would take me 1.5-2 hrs to complete the same journey that would take me 35 mins in the disco with 3 tonner behind. And when I get there I can unload the trailer and leave the digger there whereas the duck Id either have to spend all that time/wear and tear at the end of the day or get someone to come and give me a lift. I dunno just doesn't seem to work that well for me which is a shame because I really like the duck as a machine and on certain jobs I'd have it over a tracked machinemore donkeys per cube from a smaller lump, etc., etc.! for working the machine with
UK has a big problem with TIME .. continentals use ducks all over and accept the extra time taken to trek ..... here, if you've not arrived yesterday it's not acceptable ..
after decades of trundling about the country in mobile cranes, I learned to accept that you get there when you arrive. You may have to get up 15 min.s earlier to get there on time and a lot of ppl may curse you - but fk 'em - you've got a job to do
But time is money!so you go up in low and get there a few minutes later ... TIME again
