6ton dumper - DPF etc?

Anyone any idea roughly when DPF became a thing on 6ton dumpers/55kw engines? Something I want to avoid on kit that imo should never of had one in the first place!!
sure a DPF isn’t suited to machines that are turned on and off all day then parked up for 3 months etc!!

Looked at a 2021 dumper with DPF fault codes / stuck on regen - can’t be bothered with that crap!!

Like many I'm kind of split on DPFs as on the one hand I want to live in a cleaner environment, but on the other want reliability and economy.
If you look at the UK figures for the quality of the air we breathe it's gone up dramatically every decade since the 60s and the rate of connected diseases has gone down.
I should imagine economy has not followed this upturn

Went to pick up some bits locally in the diesel barge the other day:
'Do you like it?' He says eying up the chariot.
'Yep, bit juicy though' I says thinking about my flat wallet
'I had one' he says, 'removed the DPF, got a remap with much more power and MPG'

So really you have to be sensible or apply your own moral values. Does it do X amount of miles per year and how many kids do you want to poison along the way?
Don't ask me, i'm hoping hydrogen works out.....

surely it's an MOT requirement if fitted from new? much like cats were from IIRC new J plate ('90/91) onwards - no cat - no MOT ?

You cut them open, remove obstruction and weld back up topside out of sight. As long as it passes an MOT on emissions (it will) (and a visual) you get a pass.
Same with dual cats. I have experience of both. They only produce noxious fumes under certain (non MOT) conditions.
So, (sorry) go take a look at your offspring and their offspring's little cherub faces and make a moral decision. It's that simple.

On a similar note I love to see a huge steam loco puffing out of the local station and there are still people around who remember them fondly from their yoof. They're awesome they really are, to stand alongside one after it's pulled a train up an incline is like standing by the winner of the Grand National. The heat, the puffing, the steam, they're almost alive.
Should we live like that now, the ill health, the acid rain, smog and everything else? I can show you pics of my hometown Leeds which would shock you how bad it was back then.
For most of us good health has been forced upon us, some of us can oppose it if we wish.

Acid rain still exists! I know that from our outdoor pool water testing. We have just moved on to some other forms of ball $hit now.
Follow the science. We are still leaving the last ice age. All this current ball$hit is down to looking at trends through a very small window. If you plot rising temperature trends since the Industrial Revolution it will coincide with the rising trend over the last 10000 years.
Air pollution is another matter. But it is not just down to fuel emissions. The problem is, as with the VW testing scandal, do you believe in the manufactures data? Do matter what they say, in real world conditions the results will be far different.
Personally, I think if you delete a DPG and remap, if it ain’t smoking and uses less fuel, that is probably not a bad thing!!!

I’m digging great big holes, using thousands of litres of diesel.. making a dusty mess, not sure having a DPF which needs to regen every week burning at 400degs is going to make much difference on this one 😉
I get it in city center jobs where your just sat on tickover all day around general public etc.

It will pass the mot at the moment under those conditions. As I understand the authorities are working on ways to detect DPF/SCR removal techniques. There will be some expensive reinstatement coming I assume

I'm not quite sure I see the merit of installing a dpf to a car with electric seats, electric boot climate control and enormous LCD screen in the middle and light up badges. Especially when they seem to have a design life far far shorter than was achieved in the past.
And then we have millions of cars doing trips that would make more sense on public transport, but we have a shambles of a public transport network.
We aren't improving emissions we are moving it around a bit, but most of all we are ploughing more money into the pockets of the already wealthy.
It's just the latest scam.
Besides I'm sure putins tanks don't have dpf. So it's all a touch pointless.

Mate of mine just came back from India he said as they were approaching Dehli you could see the smog slowly getting thicker
A have a memory that says when we drove from Swindon to London in the 70’s there was a noticeably difference in visibility and air quality. Haven’t been in the city for years. But don’t get the same feeling when heading towards the M25!! It could easily be a false memory!!

Rain naturally falls as a very mild acid, it's just much less so now than it was.
If you remove a DPF it will smoke, that's what they're there for - to remove it.

absolutely ...... just a new way to fleece everyone in the name of X, Y & Z

been watching Alice Roberts series on ancient Greece, last few weeks ... a lot of the places she's been at were once coastal ports, now 10-15 miles inland from the coast - sea levels rise and fall over time ...
there are many 'raised beaches' around our own coast line, where the tide once reached (and probably will again at some point in the future).

's a ****ing joke to think that mankind can have that level of influence on the global scene-scape.

I can remember going to London in the 70’s and 80’s, always came back feeling mucky jut from walking around. The tube was the worst.
