Buying a new machine

How many hours has it done to need new pins? I thought they were on the "only grease them every 500 hrs" scheme. Should last for ages at that rate.........

Daily greasing. One or two of the drivers try to do the 500-hr interval, until I catch them.

regarding parts, guess it’s luck of the draw with dealer and parts man. The guy I deal with isn’t a spotty oil, in fact he isn’t far behind me. Can’t say they’ve ever managed 24-hr delivery, even for filters. For my own machine I’ve had Kubota parts delivered to the house door the next day.

I’ve been told to go to the Builth wells show. There’s supposedly dealers there and you get good deals if you sign up on the day. Anyone been there?

Im unsure of your status sole trader, ltd etc but years ago when i enquired with CNH ( Case / new holland ) they couldnt offer me 0% as i wasnt LTD and didnt have enough books

I’m doing a self build, so it’s only for my personal use. However, I’ve been advised to set up a ltd company to claim the vat back and then offer a digger and driver for the day. I’m not actually trying to use it as a business, I just want it for the build, but if I did get a day here and there, it wouldn’t be an issue.

I don’t actually want any work from it, I’ve got enough to do, but I’ll do it if it allows me to buy the machine.

Same here, sole trader, no problem getting finance. @deuce22 don’t need to be Ltd to get VAT back.

I had no problems getting finance i just wasnt eligible for 0% and was told its more than likely because im sole trader machine value was £80k.

It may be totally different to financing a machine of value under £20k

I would not buy with that mentality. For example a Kubota wont break down so the warranty really is irrelevant tbh Its 3 years anyway. Then it will retain the most residual out of all brands by a country mile. Offseting 0% imo Also thatcham cat 3 immobilizer as standard. Easiest to sell in the future and supported country wide

If a brand has top residuals then that says everything.

Bit of a strange one, in the same sort of boat as yourself with same sort of value of machine?

Been out for a while, apparently around 4 hours use to a charge depending on what's being done. 3 phase electric can fully charge in 2 hours otherwise its 8 hrs at 230v and 12 at 110v.
Bobcat have recently done the e10 as an electric version
Biggest issue with electric beside the run times is the cost of it's anything like the little dumpers or cars, it could be a 10k difference for the privilege.
Seen recently of a company running an all electric dumper/loader although to be more accurate it's actually two if them so one can be on charge and still have one working.

Battery tech just isn't where it needs to be for full shift work

battery tech is fine it’s charging is the issue. A site would need the equivalent of a Tesla supercharger to give kit 80% charge in 30 mins but they cost a fortune and can’t see a muddy building site being healthy for them.

Got a vat registered mate who can put it through the books? You save 20% he gets the depreciation tax. Save. Cheap personal loan to buy.

Never understood how that works, the mate would have to pay the vat and then get some of it off their bill

just time the purchase day before your vat return and you get the whole lot refunded or netted off the vat he would have paid anyway.

To sweeten the deal he would save £3800 corp tax on a £20k digger with corp tax being 19%

Are Takeuchi as good as the Kubota?
I’ve had a quote for a TB216 for £18500 new. He’s also got a used one for £15000 with 242hrs and the warranty is up in March. It’s 2018 and I’m guessing it was registered in March giving it 2 years warranty.

the tb216 is a pretty poor machine imho. Go five years finance and five years warranty, fix your costs for five years.
