Silly question time

Looking for a manual quick hitch and found one with 110mm Centers which is what my machine should have however my buckets are 120mm centres

Everything else looks to be ok

Would a 110mm quick hitch pick up buckets with 120mm pins? Or is it a no go?

I think I already know the answer but thought I’d ask as it’s only 10mm

Not sure they accommodate that much of a difference, but I'd always recommend one, as would @Nick...

If OP is looking for a secondhand quick hitch then it's be a waiting game- and even then it may well be worn out. I'd be looking for new and a wedgelock/screw type, but I don't know if the rest of the digger/usage is worth the cost.

If OP is handy with a welder I have a screw type faceplate here that should work with 120mm buckets, but it'll need cheeks welding to it.

I've done similar in the past and made them fit on the hitch. Not advised and deffo not a solution but when it's all you've got, then you do it...til you can afford to not do.

If you're sensitive don't read further.

On minis stick something in the jaw of the hitch to pack it out. Then couple up as normal.
On bigger things where you've weight take front pin out the bucket and then click the hitch on the rear pin and then aline front pin with jaw and slide it in.
This only applys to spring lock hitches not the wedge type and only when you've bigger bucket spacings than the hitch, not the other way round.

Haha I did think this but I haven’t bought one yet so I’ll look for the right one or the right buckets, machine works as us just greasy bucket changes

Has anyone got a engcon hitch fitted? How is it wearing? Been quoted for S30 one to come with the Wacker. It's quite a chunk more expensive than the Harford one but think build height is less. Steel wrist is less again but dealer said he couldn't get a response from them.

I've got an engcon hydraulic s30 180 hitch, it's only got 400 odd hours on it, build height not too bad, there is no lifting eye on the s30 versions. Hydraulic side is a bit s**t, not alot of space to play with and JCB had 3 or 4 attempts to get it right and it's still not perfect

Interesting- what do you mean about the hydraulics- the hose routing?

Yeah, it took them a few tries, literally first reach with the bucket to grade and a hose got trapped and burst. The routing they did wasn't very good and how they did the internal routing in the hitch was also not great. Had to tighten one of the fittings a few months back as it had worked loose in the hitch

See now I'm wondering whether just to stick to a manual S30. I probably only change a bucket once a day!
