Interesting thread this as I'm looking at TD5 90 or newish Jimny this year and it may be sat on the drive a lot.
Thinking some physical stuff as well, crooklock? Massive chain round chassis to concreted ring.
Maybe even a few posts .

The rate that defenders disappear in derbyshire i don’t think I’d fancy having one sat on the driveway nomatter what security devices are fitted

When I had my old TD4 defender the police came around and told me to keep it locked away as they were stolen more often than not!

I think unique, secret and hidden devices are the way forward for anything which requires starting to move (and can't be lifted). As soon as someone puts something on the market to do a job, a work around is found which then renders the whole lot useless.
Locks and chains etc are easily cut off with a cordless grinder. If they can lift it then they'll turn up with a truck and a lift. Seriously, I knew someone who used to do it many years ago.

I don't believe there is currently anything to stop a trailer being stolen and the trailer companies don't want anything either, their sales would plummet.

a mate of mine has had fitted to his missus rr a device that will keep vehicle in neutral until a code is put in

I took rr as a typo and figured this was some modern day chastity belt

The best ones appear to be the autometrics ones with rf etc

Not had to test them yet but I use them, you can't scan for them as they ony report once a day. Far more places you can conceal them.

Used in conjunction with a normal hardwired tracker (decoy and to let you realtime track it) would seem to be the best way forward.

Remember the old ‘tracker’ systems from 20yrs ago? Police would use a little device to track down said stolen item.. think it took them on a wild goose chase most of the time!

I’ve trackers on a couple of machines,no way anyone will find them because they aren’t factory fit,forgot about turning one off the other day when I put it on the low loader,I got the call as I drove out onto the main road,so it’s pretty effective.

I don’t want to post much on an open forum about what to disable because it’ll lead them to it,modern stuff is easy to disable though,common rail and can bus era etc

What about sign writing and odd coloured booms as a deterrent?
Ruttle plant have always had a purple dipper and it very visible.

We are lucky to have a very proactive rural crime team in Cheshire (hasn’t always been the case - anything rural was largely ignored previously). They had a great bust yesterday when investigating stolen plant - they found a load of nicked diggers and also £4million of dodgy fags!!! Bad day for the pikies
