Yes,currently on a restricted o license but my we intend to upgrade to a standard national this year to allow us to ’legally’ undertake third party haulage work,cost wise no real difference.
I have a bit of a long term ‘steady’plan to maybe run a bigger beaver tail most of the time instead of digging holes until they drop me on one!

Have you considered a hook then its not a one trick pony ?
19t hookloader has literally transformed things for us.

I have, also thought about tipper with ramps,my train of thought is as I get older is I want to purely offer operated hire and potentially plant haulage,no more groundwork’s or price work,it’s a longevity thong really,I don’t want to hammer myself into old age but can hopefully sensibly do what I enjoy for as long as I wantand keep myself fit on my old terms.That’s my plan anyway,was concreting friday and am still knackered now!

Ramps are a pita to handle and store on jobs and a steep way to load - have a proper look at a hookloader they are incredibly versatile and well worth the weight penalty for the hook gear, very popular over here.

Nice machines Simon. What year is the dumper? I know for a time they were running a restricted 444 engine before later ones got the 443. Some of the earlier tie up ones had a full fat 444 in them and they go like stink!

Yeah I’ve pretty much discounted them for those reasons .This weekends thinking is find a hopefully tidy older 12 tonner for now ,get used to all the nonsense involved in running a wagon,and then maybe jump to a newer bigger wagon in 18 months or so when operator cps is in place.All plans could change by tomorrow!

They’ve been going a long time,I went to look at a 3cx when I bought my first in the mid nineties,half my small “fleet” has come through them and I can be an intolerant bugger if badly treated.
My first choice was kx57 and if I come across a really low houred example I might upgrade.
I’ve driven backhoes forever but I will admit that a lot of my work would be easier with a 6 tonner,transport has always been the sticking point,I’ve decided to buy a lorry this year ,partly as I’m very often pushing it weightwise and our yard is opposite a weighbridge and m4 services slip road,lots of Vosa about,will be looking 12-18 ton beaver tail and see how it goes.
New replacement for my 3cx is now about 100 k,new hi spec 6 tonner I think well under 60k,I think I can do enough small local moves for third parties to cover the lorry running costs and might enjoy the diversification.

Them 308s went from USA to china build in that time too…lost a good chuck of residual at that

However that’s only because it lose the USA as an export country . It’s not a direct thing of china produces a crap 308 , they are lovely machines just that because they stopped it pushed the old ones up big time
