I wouldn't dare!
even though JakieB did very little in the way of excavating, after the 'Drema arrived, he was still needed, down the field, for levelling out all that went down there ... no way would I dare take 16t of 'Drema down there

Why not buddy ? Not many places you’ll go with a jcb that you won’t go with a duck

Because of it sinking rather than slopes? Mines only 8 ton and on 600 floatations so seems to stay afloat ok but what it does do is spin uselessly. Weight distribution using the bucket helps and a bucket pull- but yesterday I had her sliding sideways a little and being able to quickly swing round and assist yourself- not sure I would have liked to have been in the same situation in a backhoe? Wish mine had a different lock tbf

Whilst this wasn't a bog it was a peaty field as indicated by the rushes. Going over the turves didn't upset too much at all but as soon as you broke through the thatch things escalated pretty quick as nothing hard to bite down too🤣

Maybe. But In the case of this scenario I'd had to clean out the ditch back before Christmas cos a pipe was blocked so alot of that mess is just the slop from the ditch which I'd spread- I was having to put in 1ton plus boulders reaching over the ditch with the duck to shore up the footpath beyond so think any machine would have made a pretty frightful mess of it- I think it's just a a case of right machine for the right job

bit of both, but mostly slopes ... is a fair old slope down to the area/hole I was filling and a nasty turn in from the driveway
's a few years on now and you'd never know there was a hole there now

You could walk that duck out of a bog sideways no problem . It’s that light and with the big tyres not many places you’d get into trouble . As doob says though there is normally a fair bit of reinstating to do on the way out but if you took your old case in there you’d still be doing the reinstating on the way out as well .

yeh - we are very lucky with our scenery - when you can actually see it. --- one of the reasons I bought the place in 2010

the one pic with the 6t Thwaites on the bank, gives you the best idea of the inclines I was dealing with - house at the top is obviously level ... 's 'kin steep in places - and steeper still in others :ROFLMAO: ... deffo not 'Drema territory :(

anyone noticed this one on Fleabay ... looks odd somehow - solids don't help the 'illusion'
odd step set up over the front O/S wheel too

The slew ring looks normal but the smaller tyres are making it look a bit odd . Not a fan of the js145 on tracks but I don’t know what the ducks are like . Might be ok though at that price given the tilty is on it so long as the hours are right . It’s done a wee bit of counterweight digging as well

undercarriage doesn't look big enough for the superstructure somehow Vin

Yeah and looks really set back altogether- like the blades too far ahead of the machine- does look a bit odd proportions
It’ll be because it doesn’t have the jacks on it . Maybe they were an option that wasn’t chosen . Here’s mine side on , if you took off the jacks it would look similar

I can't see it myself. Yours facing over the blade the cab is right over the front axle whereas the JCB is set way back from the front axle.
I think what is making it look odd is the blade is on the front . Normally the blade is only mounted on the front when jacks are mounted on the rear . Most ducks with blade only will have the blade at the back with the rigid axle. That is a bit strange . Maybe it had rear jacks that have been removed or it was specked that way but I can't see why anyone would spec the blade on the front.
