My wife is Cornish so I can’t be too mean . And I’m 1/8th Cornish myself. Great GrandMother from Boscastle area got sent to work keeping house for a family on a Farm in South Devon… and never went back!
Didn't you say down near Bantham somewhere? Or was that someone else...

Was out delivering this morning and the three places I went nobody was about at all. Does nobody work Saturday mornings anymore 😕, is this why the country is in the state it is .

Lots of places have cut down Saturdays if they have employees. Not financially sensible to pay extra for Saturday in a slowing financial climate

I used to open Saturday mornings for decades Mike, but it got to the stage where maybe one Sat. in four was worth the effort, so knocked it on the head and joined the rest of the world, having a two day weekend

Footings poured today all went well, just missed the rain. Spent last few days prepping for yet another change on big job now adding a wing either side of pool house. The mains electric is coming in one side absolute monster of a cable for domestic. UKPN were out last week to have a look and said once they put head on they have to do improvement works on their network to give us what we need. Makita 40v chainsaw got another runout aswell.

I worked 6 often 7 days a week for up until about two years ago, always happy doing it,but now love having most weekends free,I find it necessary as I get a bit older to recharge for the next week, balance and all that!

I don't think people don't have a problem with weekends. Loads of lads I've spoken to really feeling the pinch from not working for them and asking round for extra shifts. But big sites it makes little sense.
Saturdays are twice the cost for half the productivity.
If people would do a whole day for there weekday rate then it might be different

Our lads are normally annoyed if we tell them theres no work Sats, that extra bit helps them alot. If they do a full 5 days they get a full day for working until 1 on Sat. Its how the oldmans always run it and i have never had a issue with it. If its only until 1 still plenty of day left.

thinking back I’d have to kick and scream to get my lads to do a Saturday morning, would get the a bacon cob and pay but still never that bothered! I need the few hours at a weekend in the yard to catch up on maintenance now, never get a early finish on my sites 😉

Obviously paying them too much if they're not gagging for an extra shift 😉

Fired the rig up. All works.

Can't decide whether to keep or sell tbh. Be a cheap machine for someone. Equally there is talk of developments needing groundwater monitoring points. This is a ideal unit for that.
