Rb is 10% on first 10k I think,then not sure after that. I’ve got a 100k limit there never put anything down money wise but have bought and sold few things and paid instantly etc

Same I don’t think I’ve paid anything down at RB before, deffo euros as I did it in person in the old portacabin, bit of a change to what it is now!

As it happens the mower started first pull and I gave it to my mate Harry, convinced him I'd had it personalised as a Christmas present , the ride on should go with a £100 profit this week and the grease guns will turn a small profit at the auto jumbles

But the whole lot was under 150 quid, bit different to buying a pup of a digger on impulse!

These arrived this week, within budget , kubotas done nearly 4000 hrs but seems fairly tight and together,very pleased with the dumper,really tidy and only 1300 hrs.Used them both for a few hours yesterday and I have to admit I’m already pondering the 3cxs long term future!

Both from Jaybee plant in Stroud, I’ve bought a few machines from them ,good to deal with.The dumper was 10k,it is very tidy,I looked at loads online and this is far tidier than anything else I saw.

I keep my eye on jaybee plant and they seem a decent outfit, dumper looks very tidy.

I had a u55 with a steelwrist on for a couple of days and thought it was pretty decent,one of kubotas best along with kx57, and handled tilty really well for a zero swing.

Seems to be a bit of a debate around 6t v backhoe imho it revolves more around your transport capabilities than your type of work

I keep my eye on jaybee plant and they seem a decent outfit, dumper looks very tidy.

They’ve been going a long time,I went to look at a 3cx when I bought my first in the mid nineties,half my small “fleet” has come through them and I can be an intolerant bugger if badly treated.
My first choice was kx57 and if I come across a really low houred example I might upgrade.
I’ve driven backhoes forever but I will admit that a lot of my work would be easier with a 6 tonner,transport has always been the sticking point,I’ve decided to buy a lorry this year ,partly as I’m very often pushing it weightwise and our yard is opposite a weighbridge and m4 services slip road,lots of Vosa about,will be looking 12-18 ton beaver tail and see how it goes.
New replacement for my 3cx is now about 100 k,new hi spec 6 tonner I think well under 60k,I think I can do enough small local moves for third parties to cover the lorry running costs and might enjoy the diversification.

Will there not be a difference in operators licence and running costs between moving your own kit and moving others?

Hard to swallow for sure! Last price I had for a new one was in 2012 and that was 72k…… emissions regs kept putting prices up more than anything.. now it’s pure greed

Yes Doob, it’s worked well for us but when the warranty is up on this one, there is one hell of a depreciation.I payed 23 k for my 2001 contractor in 2009, px it last year for 17 k against the manitou, virtually troublefree and joy to own.new one lovely to operate,had a fair few issues and will lose about 35 -40k in 5 years.

Will there not be a difference in operators licence and running costs between moving your own kit and moving others?

Yes,currently on a restricted o license but my we intend to upgrade to a standard national this year to allow us to ’legally’ undertake third party haulage work,cost wise no real difference.
I have a bit of a long term ‘steady’plan to maybe run a bigger beaver tail most of the time instead of digging holes until they drop me on one!

Guess you need to offset devaluation against the downtime and repairs of an older machine. It just sucks when you end up unlucky with an unreliable newer paying for all 3 things.

I only bought a new one for that reason,5 year warranty and hopefully prompt attention when needed,which to be fair Greenshields have upheld.but I fear after that warranty expires I will be bottom of the pile for call outs,at least with a tracked machine your breakdowns are unlikely to be on the road which is not fun at all.
