I really should pay more attention!!She is a dash 5
How many hours she done Aiden ? I had a dash 3 and a 5, Japanese engineering at its bestShe is a dash 5
Great digger, he has it now about 17 years. He had me looking at a few rougher dash 2s and 3s the time.... glad he went a bit further and got that one.I really should pay more attention!!
My favourite digger!!
Im going to say 7000 or so, im not actually sure. It doesnt do much i think it had 5k on it when it came. How many hours she done Aiden ? I had a dash 3 and a 5, Japanese engineering at its best![]()
Bloke I knew ran one for years and many machines later has said it's not been bettered. How many hours she done Aiden ? I had a dash 3 and a 5, Japanese engineering at its best![]()
It maybe a case of looking back with rose tinted glasses, or whatever the expression is, but particularly the dash 3 was so responsive, but still smooth.Bloke I knew ran one for years and many machines later has said it's not been bettered.
Did ya get distracted by something more urgent / interesting?Yes both sets are here, ill pop out in the morning and measure them![]()
Finally managed to get it all working today using hard wired switches.Interesting project
Would a radio remote from a model aircraft work for proportional controls? Not robust like the wireless controls found on Hiabs but depends what yoyu are after... Obviously you'd have to take the outputs from the receiver that usually drive servo motors and translate that using an Arduino and a mosfett driver board to allow you to drive the solenoids directly. Finally managed to get it all working today using hard wired switches.
Next step is to work out how to radio control it. I can get switches that work using standard drone type radio gear but I then need to generate a pwm signal on the same channel to control the proportional valve. I can do this with a motor speed controller. The bit I’ve not worked out is how to coordinate it all.
I think the EX60-5 is iconic, especially over here as the EX60 was alot of peoples stepping stone to the plant world... ether driving them or owning them.would be interesting to know how Aiden rates the old EX60 compared to a current Hitachi.?
Not driven an ex60 but have driven the ex70I think the EX60-5 is iconic, especially over here as the EX60 was alot of peoples stepping stone to the plant world... ether driving them or owning them.
The first track machine i drove was an EX60urg.. had the levers up front and the parallel offset... the places that machine could go.
The dash 5 was the best of the EX60 range in my opinion. Go for ever.
As for comparing them to the new Hitachi? Do you mean the ZX65 that i have? If so it wouldn't be a fair comparison as the EX60 is really a size up... its in the 8 ton class really.
As for other new Hitachi such as the ZX85s etc, i have drove them but never really spent enough time in them to judge. I never seen anything i didn’t like with them though.
The new ZX95-7 looks a serious machine. Id like a go on one of those.
I always thought the Ex60-5 punched well above its weight. I am pretty impressed with the Kobelco. This is also a conventional boom rather than a king post. I guess that helps with lifting and balance. Not driven an ex60 but have driven the ex70
The zx85's are equally as smooth but the cabs are on complete opposite ends of the spectrum. The 85 has a similar cab to a 2.5t machine. The 70 felt like a 13 tonner
