I have a 535 - 125 in the yard.... well actually in the hedge because it has f***ed me off to the point that that's where it now lives

I'd go with the gut and get a 10.5m. Far better sized handler all round IMHO.

The Manitou's are a much neater machine in that size as well I will add. With forward folding legs which make it handier in tight spaces.... and you can trundle round with the legs partly down to carry more

Not given up on the 1030, just never ever see one forsale which isn’t stooooopid money.
Yeah I am determined on a 10m , my sites aren’t big only one or two houses at a time so it’s plenty, if I need big lifts Mogman gets a call

Well the JCB thing the timber frame company hired in is now gone and has been replaced with an Merlo from a local farmer. The merlo is quite compact and doesn’t have the reach of the JCB or the Manitou I had. I would consider a Merlo as it has been all right. The JCB is just too big for compact sites. Still rate the 1030s as the one to go for.

prices have dropped massivly of bigger machines 17 and 14 meters have lost 10k in a year on 14 plates. Sadly rare machines will fetch a bit and always will. Good thing is the resale will stack.

I always keep a keen eye on prices of most plant and noticed that they had dropped, it did make me consider a 14 purely down to the fact they were cheap! But then quickly reminded myself that cheap doesn't always do the job! For once resale hopefully isn’t a issue, only justifying a more modern telehandler by ideally keeping it for 10+years

I believe they are quite simple to change on some models
Lift the boom pop the side panel off the cab and there should be the linkage visible I think it just a case of swapping the linkage around
There was a thread on it on one of the farming forums with a pictured guide

Should be on a switch? It is on Manitous, left of steering wheel. Or has been on the last three I’ve been on.

I have only been looking at prices seen selling mine but would have thought that should get you into a tidy 1030s.
Interesting comments about the prices of the 14m and 17m starting to fall. I originally purchased the 1030 as it had to turn 90degrees between walls and was that bit shorter on the chassis. The bigger machines would have made that much more difficult. Around the farm having more reach or lift would never have been an issue. Another think is on the industrial sites we where doing we had plenty of stoned up access as ultimately the whole site get covered in concrete. Not the same with housing. Doing the house I am working on at the moment it has caught me out by just how heavy these machine are if you just put one wheel or two on the garden area!! It is a big house and we used 2 loading bays. So beware of the extra room you need around tight housing sites if that is somewhere the oversize machine might be needed!

I went to most of their auctions in the last couple of years at castle Donington, and the yard was usually full. There just doesn’t seem as much listed at the Maltby auctions?

Agreed, my old yard wasn’t far from donnington so one of us always popped down for a look, and used to always buy something! Never been to the Maltby ones, a lot further and like you say a lot less stock in!

Finally picked up a very tidy 2016 533-105 from RB today, ex Morris Leslie which I had previously enquired about but they weren’t interested in doing a deal.. standard!
Worth waiting for hopefully!
