Gonna do 500hr service on my machine over the Xmas break looking for recommendations on engine , hydraulic and gear oil.
Don't want cheap but middle of road, also where to get from?
I'm in Stoke but guessing can get it online.

I use Shell rimula R4 15w40 in my 216 (and all other plant). 46 hydraulic oil and EP80/90 in the track motors.

Over the Christmas period I’d suggest to go and pick it up from whatever is closest. Local agri suppliers?

very quick delivery, (but usually buy through ebay as it's almost always cheaper than their own website )

has gone up significantly since I last bought a couple of 20s .. were 85 quid, each

15-40'll be fine ... never failed me
just looking at the various prices for it and the cheaper way is by the 20lt drum ..£5.50/ltr, as opposed to £5.74/lt in a 209ltr drum
I always bought it by the drum (big Cummins engines take a lot - frequently) and from memory, the last drum I bought in 2009, before I had to pack it in/became ill, was £1.05/ltr ( + VAT ) .. unbelievable rise in costs (OK it's 15 years, but FFS !!!, but it'd been around the 200 quid a barrel for decades prior )

Used to buy all our lube off GB when I was on spanners full time. Iirc no one could touch em on price.

Bought a bit of mannol recently though for boggo stuff. Seems good price and ok stuff.

Crikey. I'm sure the last time I bought a couple of 20l rimulas it was £65plus vat!

get what you pay for .. cheap oil is not cheap if it doesn't do it's job
lot of cheap stuff is 'reprocessed' / and/or blended, not virgin

to reference my favourite John Ruskin quote ....

The 216 I use and service for a friend allways has John Deere plus50 in it as that’s what I have for my tractors.46 in hydraulics and ep 90 in final drives

Got oils now guys
Got the Rimula engine oil 15w 40, ep80 /90 gear / diff oil and vsg 46 hydraulic oil from Smith and Allen , their own brand on the hydraulic and gear stuff..
