Get the dewalt in and get it calibrated, never seen laser that far out before. Has it been dropped bad?

Not to my knowledge but 3 or 4 others could have, I’ll see if I can find a place to look at it, level and plumb are fine.

I’ve ordered another dewalt as use them a lot especially setting out my extension currently with 8 90 degree corners

We were lucky it smashed it down earlier hope it's OK tomorrow!

I don’t trust any of them, even my square is about out over distance!
I just work out the corner to corners and square it up properly like that

This was what was annoying me as we’d done that and showing it off but it’s hard to do accurately over 12.2m (diagonal) and 1.6m level change coming off a 1936 house that’s not that square or true next to the neighbours garage that’s got a +70mm bulge in the middle of it. In an inch or two of muddy water. Need some 45 degree dual laser measures on a mill type vice with x / y axis then a down laser pointer. I know total stations and even theodolites do this but not used those before.

I have just bought a total station and am getting to grips with it. The actual total station is really easy to use. Just a case of memorizing the buttons.
The cad to go with it is the hard part. I clicked a button earlier accidentally and spent half an hour wanting to throw the laptop out the window as I could only zoom a pan certain objects.
It's easy if you have good drawings but trying to sort bad drawings out is really difficult.

It's an older topcon I think it's a ds but can't remember right now. But has a new rugged tablet as the controller rather than a topcon controller which seems to run a lot quicker than the fc5000 that was the alternative.
Hoping to get a gps unit to go with it next year.
Thanks with the offer I might have to take you up on that. I'm luckily in the position I can start with small tasks and work my way up but am generally left to my own devices.

Oh the DS is my total station too, had it since new, bullet proof in comparison to the GT that with the motors sounds like an angry wasp.

Fc5000 is my tablet had the older fc-500 before that and never liked the tesla. Curious what controller your using now though, fc-6000

Magnet field is great, very easy to use, I'm still learning and experimenting now

It took a while to decide on machine as went down a rabbithole on reddit reading about them.
I like the topcon software and the bright colourful icons seem to make sense to me. And biggest reason for topcon is not needing all the subscriptions like Leica. Only used it a dozen times so far though.

It's a winmate brand tough tablet loaded with the latest version of topcon field.

Ok

I have a hiper SR, GPS antenna, the issue with them is they need to be regularly used otherwise in my case, as there is no seperate internal battery when the main battery is depleted can loose the firmware needed to run and needs to be uploaded by a dealer, the lead needed is not for sale to non dealers. Hence mine is now in its box and hasn't been used for a while as its nice to have but can manage without really

Has your magnet got GPS activated?

Wanting GPS for hybrid positioning? Have you not tried setting out by setting up my reference line might be better for you, I've used this when marking out extension both commercial and domestic
