It’s ok - it was saying in the radio this morning that we are investing £20 billion into carbon capture schemes…

There are actually people out there who have set up companies and are taking very significant sums of money off the government and large businesses to apparently pump carbon into old oil wells!.!. This is essentially The Emporer’s New Clothes for the modern woke age.
What an absolutely farcical waste of money!

A customer (head of health and safety at Essar, formerly Shell Stanlow) was telling me about this years ago (way way before covid). I thought he was talking bollox - ‘Carbon can be pulled from the atmosphere and ‘locked-in’ to old oil and gas wells, offsetting emissions elsewhere’….
At the time I couldn’t understand how anybody would consider this in any way sane - I was laughing at the idea whilst having a brew with him!
We are goosed as a society when this kind of hare-brained scheme (and countless others in the same vein) receive the full support and financial backing of ‘our leaders’ - it’s no wonder we cannot be competitive on a global scale with pretty much anything nowadays!

What happens when they get "full" or have I missed the point? Or will we not emit anything by then?🤔

I don’t object to peat bog retention, and don’t mind the thought of some areas of land being set aside to create future moorlands.
I do object to snake-oil salesmen lobbying for government money to be spent apparently pumping carbon into old gas wells as this will save the planet! What a load of bollox!!!
