Terex benford pt6000 won’t start.

Hi all.
I can’t start my dumper. It’s a 23 year old beast and has been great since we got it. Albeit a bit battered and bruised.
It turns over fine.
I’ve stripped and checked all the fuel system and replaced seals and washers.
I’ve replaced the fuel filter.
Injectors are working fine and when I turn it over I’m getting bluish smoke from the exhaust that smells like diesel.
I’ve replace the particulates/sediment filter too.

It’s been a bad starter for a while now and we’ve got to help it on its way with a torch into the air intake but that’s not doing the job either now.

When it was running it was Smokey but it ran and pulled really well.

I pulled the rocker cover and there is smoke/vapour coming from the pushrod area when I turn it over.

I’m just wondering with all that info if anyone thinks there may be something obvious.

I would like to do a compression test on it too but will have to research how to do that as im
Not quite sure. And I definitely don’t have the equipment as yet.

I’m handy enough when it comes to engines and stripping stuff down etc so not scared of doing what ever is required, I’m just a bit stumped at the moment.

bang on - insufficient compression to ignite the fuel, burning oil, when it was running and bypassing compression to the crank case (" there is smoke/vapour coming from the pushrod area ") ... set of corded Heppolite rings might cure it, depending on bore condition .. be helpful to know what the engine is?
