As previously posted, picked this one up last week for my own project, very cheap so no stress if it doesn’t work out. 1997 SJ 6892 Allegedly only 400 hours, not checked to see if clock still ticking, but not sure I believe it even if it is, but then they don’t do much actual run time I suppose. I’ve seen rougher looking ones with similar hours.
Got all the guard rail pins freed up today and sprayed penetration fluid on everything I could find. Charged the 2 car batteries and re fitted. Took the 230/110v charger out to take home and see if working or not.
Kingpin needs replacing so that’s next on the list.
Had a good play with it and all seems to behave as it should, Not a fan of heights so 6m was enough for me. That’s all I’ll need it to do any way. Think this one is 32ft platform height?
As @Giles pointed out, it’s useless off road due to rigid axles. The tyres are foam filled which I gather is the done thing. 2 of them are pretty ragged, I was wondering if a set of AT tyres filled with just air might be a bit more forgiving on slightly uneven surfaces?
Is foam filling a purely safety criteria on these? Even if a tyre popped it’s would only drop less 100mm on the corner, which obviously at full height would be horrible, but if I’m only ever planning on accessing 6m eaves with it then would lack of foam filled tyres be a risk?
Please educate me :)

The tyres are the only thing stopping that machine falling over - pressures are basically safety critical so I wouldn’t personally fit anything not correctly load rated and not at the specified pressure (ie rock solid!).
It’s meant for smooth flat concrete - anything other than that and it could easily tip over at height.

Appreciate the advice. On hard flat level compacted 803 it gets about okay, will make sure I prep the work areas well, or use the BIG ground boards on level ground, and will only be using to about 50% of capacity. Despite enjoying climbing in my youth, and doing lots of sketchy roof work, I have thoroughly lost my head for heights these days and am very risk adverse!

no sense of adventure :ROFLMAO: ... am regularly clinging by my finger nails out with Russ ... admittedly harnessed, but you still have to fall 'fore it catches you (hopefully) :rolleyes::LOL:
heights've never bothered me .. water however is not my thing (very nearly drowned as a 3 yr old) :rolleyes:

falling is the problem and the sudden stop

Even my tracked one on concrete at 4m feels sway’y so you wouldn’t want to be to high with a lean on. The ones with legs are great for that auto level then feel more secure.
