Hi, I'm Mik from Ireland, but live down south in the UK.

I'm looking at setting up a site to generate leads and then sell these on to partner companies or look at taking a share of the sale. I've bought the domain name to get the site ready etc and will target mini diggers and excavators to start off with. I'm just wondering if there is much demand for this service in the industry? i.e. if I can generate the leads, will a company or companies be willing to buy them?

Secondly, at what price point would this work?

I was thinking £35/£40 per a lead, but looking at the lower end of the market for hire on a day rate, some companies are extremely cheap, I assume they don't come with a driver, as there would be no margin. Does this seem too high, if someone was renting it for a week, then this would be a good price I think, it would all depend on the length of time for hire. I'm looking at one site in Sheffield and their headline price is "Digger and Driver Hire from £250 a day", the margins seem pretty slim if you need to pay the driver as well as cover the investment of equipment?

If it was for a % of of the sale then 10%-15%.

Any thoughts opinions on this all welcome. Just to be clear, I don't own any equipment or take away business from anyone, but only want to help companies generate more qualified leads and looking for feedback on the idea before I invest a lot of time/energy in it.

Lots will be along to give their 2p worth, but personally the last thing the industry needs is more middle men. Good luck is all I can say.

Hi Mik

There's no way someone offering themselves at £250 for a days work with a mini is going to have any profit to spend £40 on a lead. Tbh this is rock bottom of the market sort of money and likely busy fools if they're any good.
Id also say £40 is a lot of gamble for a lead that might simply be a customer getting 5 quotes for a job where they will end up going for £250 guy anyway.

Firstly, I love the name.
Secondly have you contemplated playing Rugby with a Landmine as the ball as it seems like it would work just aswell.
Plenty of sites like Checkatrade and My Builder if you want to utterly waste your time and money.

Go for it pour all your money into it although in the spirit of your desire to be a money grubbing middle vermin we’ll need 40-50% of your expenditure to be your consultants. I say expenditures as there won’t be any profits.

You may get some new start up desperate for work but no established firm needs to buy leads especially not low quality time wasting ones that an aggregating site will likely generate I get 2-3 text a week from ppl othering quality leads etc as well as emails just junk them as that’s all they’re worth
