that's a burst about to happen ... had one here (one of several) '07 .. made a hell of a mess - bank went -- the M&B is a contour canal and is a hundred plus feet above the carnage
I have a several minute video some where from the police helicopter, but doubt it would upload to youtube
Pam Worked for BWW at that time and was all hands to the pumps type thing -- that's her in the bottom pic

free stone - collect from site :giggle: - half a mile of it
bottom left, you can't see the channel it scoured out across two fields, before eventually reaching a river

could've been worse - only emptied a couple of miles ... two of the local team saw it moving and dropped the stop boards in upstream and rang some one down stream to do the same, 'bout 6.30 a.m.

Ok this exact pictures went through my head tonight remember seeing them at the time. . (Ive 2 acres of canal side) Anyway had a good chat with local lass responsible tonight and does know the aqueduct in question very well they've been keeping an eye on it for a few months now...still not sure they appreciate how much the flow is but they are assessing in the morning. I'm not massively fussed as I'll be alright either way as we are "upstream" the aqueduct carries a stream/River.
To give you an idea there was a steady stream of gravel flying out of the leak and twatting the railings... I await tomorrow with interest😬

No stoppers or anything ...looks like a we'll be back Monday to see what's left type of job . Unbelievable they don't appear to give a ff
no longer BWW ... canal and river trust now .. been like it for years ... relies on volunteers to get anything done -- couldn't put volunteers anywhere near that and the paid engineers are probably all down the pub with their phones off
what few paid staff there are left have been treated like ****, so no good will and certainly wouldn't turn out, out of hours anymore
In Pam's day, you could get every man and his dog out at three in the morning for an emergency, in minutes ... they had a pride in what they did AND were appreciated
like the rest of the country f**ked / gone to the dogs

There are a and e contracts out with local companies. We have one. Supposed to have the lads do a load of training. But never happened. Only remember one call in the past 4 years for a tree across a lock.
