The UK would be a much better job if it was
Probably depends where you are in life as to to how true that is. For you and me at where we are in now in life then maybe yes. Probably not true for many though.

I'm not a raging hippy but I don't really like the sound of s**t loads of crappy housing on productive farmland or ecologically rich areas. Tbh I'm all up for rebuilding/regeneration of brownfield sites but would sooner do something about keeping the population down if there isn't enough houses rather than building everywhere. Once it's gone it's gone. All I hear from the main parties is building 1.5 million houses or whatever.

PLENTY of empty houses around, folk just don’t want to live in them anymore! Get into the back streets of the cities and they are all boarded up everywhere.. we don’t need to build excessively more just fix the crap up no one wants!

the way they're altering council tax rules/liabilities currently they'll all be smouldering burn outs shortly .. 100% after 1 mth empty/unoccupied, 200% after 12 months, 300% after 3 to 5 years - repo.s are exempt apparently - lucky bankers

Damn right it would👍

Question ...anyone explain how the French have gone from a Socialist government to electing in the "far right"? Is there no "right" ?

So does this mean if Keir gets in this week we will see headlines of "far left elected in UK" 🤔
Its not a done deal yet ..2nd round in a few day.

The demographic of voters is like Brexit.

In the UK we have Londoners who think that they are the people who count although most of them dont have a clue on what goes on outside of their metropolitan London bubble they have no clue about how the countryside works, In France they have Parisians again most of them have no idea about what it is like outside of their Paris bubble and how the French countryside works, It's these very people who challenge everyone and call them far right if anyone dares to have an opinion that differs to theirs, Most people that care about their country and want to protect it are only just centre right, The metropolitains like to think they live in Eutopia then once the wake up and smell the coffee they want to leave the cities and move to the idylic countryside where they think they can bring their metropolitan ways they do not realise how unwelcome they are these are the real Liberal lefties that have ruined both of our countries.

example ... local hill just outside Aber .. foot path runs round the base - has done since before i was born and used it many times as a kid .. some incomer has been blocking it and trying to get it closed, as it runs behind his 'new abode's ' garden

We are an immigrant family in France.... there are racists about who will no doubt feel emboldened by developments.
you are a family from the country that liberated these tossers, from a tyrant that would have had them all speaking German and shouting Sieg Heil as they goose stepped in time to their new national anthem
point that out to them occasionally

We have plenty of housing space, folks don’t use to capacity. Estate I live on has an average of less than 2 people occupying 4/5 bedroom houses. Each could easily support a couple lodgers, but as the system allowes and supports under occupancy of properties then we keep on building more. New development at other end of village has 5 x 5 bedroom £750000 houses (3.75 million) to house 10 people on a 2 acre site. How is that a good use of space or resources. It’s bonkers

@V8Druid ease up a bit ..
we have been made to feel welcome by 99.9% of the people we are in contact with, I was just trying to say that an extreme version of anything pulls out the cranks....and It was an allied effort tbf :)

Maybe a bit OTT tbf 😂
But the point here is if you move somewhere like you've done and integrate and pull your weight and do your bit then no issues ...
But it's the hordes flowing in here that want to seemingly change the fabric of our towns with their cultures and way of doing things.
And no that's not an extreme hard line view ....10 minutes up here in some of our towns will confirm it. I litterally feel a minority in some areas now ,sad times.
To quote a certain local family of Asian origin when they moved out of town and not far from us..."there's to many f P**is in town now" 😂
