I find it very difficult to control the slew accurately. When digging a trench for example, the bucket touches the side, so there is no problem. Greatest issue for me is lining up, to change buckets. Even if the control is moved extremely slowly, nothing happens, then whoosh, it overshoots. It then overshoots when trying to get back where you wanted it in the first place.
This could be operator error, but I have never been able to find anyone else who has this machine. As stated, I am not a professional machine driver.
If you ever find yourself in Norfolk, you are welcome to have a go.

Have you tried knocking the revs down a touch. Hitachi zx19 behave exactly as you describe on full revs. Are really quiet horrible to drive. Knock the throttle forward a fraction and it completely changes the machine, without compromising performance, it does my head in blokes that jump in them and smack the throttle straight back. Then make a mess and complain right up to being down right dangerous.

Yeah my tb016 if on high revs is hard to line up for bucket change too

Thanks for the hint. Being a newby, I only have the throttle a whisker above tickover anyway, as I found out early on, that at top revs very delicate operation is required.
I think the design of valve that operates the slew is not as good as it could be, as when the machine is stone-cold and the oil thick, it is not quite so bad on the slew. The dealer's explanation is the other controls operate rams, whereas the slew uses a motor.

Try in a range of positions. A lot of machines have a sweet spot where everything just works together in harmony. Also you can try moving other controls at the same time. This will divert oil away from the slew. And slow it down. Not all services are supplied by the same pump so might take a bit of trial and error

Hmm that's interesting- slightly disappointed to hear that as sounds just like my 216- although have got so used to it I don't even notice it anymore.

Here's a question. If I'm running a grab and rotate obviously both joysticks will have a roller on them. If the machines offset is also on the joystick does that mean you have to switch over one of the joysticks. Vs having the offset on a pedal where you can use grab and offset at the same time.

Yes, it’s usually switch the offset to aux 2.

Realistically with a rotating grab you rarely use offset- and with a tiltrotator almost never. It’s usually a case of set the correct offset and then back to aux two. Only reason you’d constantly be using offset is j a tight space and then you’re not likely to be using a grab.

Just a press of a button on my machines.

The WN ET24 has two rollers and a foot pedal for offset.

Yeah. Still got my mind on that Beddoes one you linked me too. They've given me a price but will only sell through local WN dealer.
I really like the ET24. Spent some time in my dad's and it really does tick the right boxes for me. Getting absolutely sick to the back teeth of doing grab work 8 hrs a day with the pedal on TB216

Perfect tool for one of those ec02 offers from engcon...would be a great little easy tow package.
Yes, kicking myself now, while waiting for the machine to come, Engcon had some of the basic setups on their clearance pages £4750 with top hitch if I remember right. Because the machine delivery had been put back a few times with covid I thought, hold off until the machine arrives :rolleyes:

Damn ...seems bloody cheap now.

Didnt know you ran a et24

Tempted to chop the kx71 and u17 in for such a setup but mrs says i cant spend any more money till middle of next year :(

Exactly what I had in mind. Swap 216 and probably one of my 3 tonners. The ET24 will run 3 tonner size buckets and i was seriously impressed with it's lift capacity- lack of tail weight is it's limiting factor over a 2.8t but still pretty decent I also like the proper undercarriage- put the tracks in so infrequently on the 216 it's hardly worth having a machine like that for the few times a year I need them.
