Hello From Guernsey

[Guernsey Submarine]

Hi All
I make manned submarines as a hobby here in Guernsey Channel Islands. I have a Bobcat T2556 telehandler that i use to move them about.
Im not very familiar with hydraulic equipment, so just looking for some advice on a few bobcat related topics.....

i have a massey 8925 which is a t2556 ,i know the insides quite well ,if you search ebay there are service disks with a complete parts list with diagrams

100 meters diving depth. Currently been to 45.
Expensive. er, cant bear to think. at 30K i think.
72hours life support.
2 people.

The problem is quite simple I think, and probably really obvious. The handbrake is leaking. So i assume its just blown an O ring in the valve. Ive taken the valve off and there are 3 hoses connected to it. When i have looked at videos of people taking hoses off tractors and wot not on youtube, there is always "some" leakage of fluid, but its not a lot. However, when i remove one of the hoses, the fluid poors out, like too much. It feels like its going to drain the tank. The machine is not running, so its not under pressure. However, there must be something im doing wrong. I am thinking that maybe the front forks might need to be down on the floor. I did it with them in the up position.
Or is there any other way your supposed to relieve pressure on the system so i can take the hoses off without loosing the entire tank of oil.

Sorry, i feel this is a simple thing, but im not very familiar with hydraulic vehicles.

Yes, ive got the manual which is very detailed. But i cant see anywhere where i can relieve pressure so i can take a hose off.

Machine is NOT running, i do know that much!

Is the hose you are removing below the level of the tank?

Put everything down on the ground, turn machine off ,
turn the key one click(probably not required unless there is some electro solenoids in the system),
wiggle all the levers to let any pressure out.
Key off
Crack the hydraulic tank lid / filler to let any additional pressure off & then screw it back up tight
May stop you getting a mouth full of fluid at least if you ever take any other hoses off!

Or as the monkey said, it could just be a return pipe while will just empty the tank out!In that case You’ll need to get a blank for the hose and a bucket

It does have electric solenoids so ill probably have to do the lever wiggle.

I'll give it a try this weekend.

Just out of interest. If air gets into the system, is it self bleeding?

By the way if anyone is interested in the submarine projects, I do a youtube channel. Its mostly engineering stuff related to my new submarine. But there are some videos of diving my existing boat.

on the front between front wheels there is a lever to release the pressure in the system

Hi All,

I went to my local plant shop and they gave me some blanks to block off the pipes. Also gave me the same advice as DaveDCB did here, which is good. I'm going to tackle it Sunday. I might even make a video!

Right, i did manage to have a bit better success this weekend, but still didnt get the job done. I wiggled the handle and made sure the tank was sealed properly before opening the pipes. This time they leaked, but not a huge amount, a more managable dribble.

But i still need to blank them off. There are 3 pipes on the valve that I need to remove\blank off.

The bigger of the 3 fitted this M16

But the smaller blank i have doesnt fit. So i couldnt finish the job.

The smaller blank i have is M16 which is a bit too big.
Any ideas what this thread may be? M15? M14?
