I'm genuinely thwarted by this most basic task!

Takeuchi TB125 fan belt replacement. Genuine belt, alternator slid back as far as it will go- up against engine block and can't get the fucker anywhere close to going on. Tried all sorts of pulley combinations in different orders, lubed the pulleys to reduce friction and still miles of. I've already grazed my forearms, lost an hour of my life, surely it shouldn't be this hard! Any pointers????

Can't see that working here tbh. I've had levers and all sorts trying to pry the belt on. Its mad, I can't see any possible way of gaining any more slack. I tried hanging of the belt to see if it will stretch even a mm or so. Bizarre.

At this rate I'm going to have to get the main dealer to come out to change a fan belt for me!

Something is not right, if you were able to get the belt on with the alternator back against the engine would you be able to get the bolt back in the alternator again.

Is there a belt tensioner or is it all on the alternator?

Lay the old one onto to just check it’s deffo the same? Won’t be the first time part numbers have been wrong!

All done. What an absolute Fing bastard. 2.5 hrs to get a belt on. To be fair in 4200 hrs this is the first part it's needed aside from a set of tracks and a few hoses but still- next time it needs a new belt it's time to give the digger to Rory

I had 2 belts I'd bought for it- at one stage I actually tried to stretch the belt with the digger such was the desperation- I now just have the one belt.
