Got to wrap my brain around switching from the E10 to this tomorrow. I have 2/3 of an acre of topsoil to strip off and heap up on the side. How long should it take with a 6t dumper assisting ? Top soil about 6-9” thick . Believe it or not I have a ticket for it . Done assement on E10 - but good for upto 16t. Just goes to show tickets are worth Jack.

1100ton… you want a tractor and dump trailer on that, load it up to the eyeballs 2 or 3 days maybe.

Ouch. At a VERY rough count there will be 2700ton of subsoil to dig out to get level, then re distribute the top soil.

So I’ve just shifted 1k ton from one end of the farm to the other, about 1.7 miles each way over rough tracks/fields etc, managed 15 loads a day, took 4 days on my own, only loading with my 6tonner.. my back knew about it by time I’d done even with full cab suspension & air seat!

This is cut and full so no where near the anount of shifting. Will dig out with 13t and load the dumper when it’s there, and then build a spoil heap for the wheel digger to rake back and level. 70m from one end of site to other with about 6m of gradient. Will see how it’s looking after 3 days and see if we need to call in a dump trailer as well.

square bar is for support as had it upside down to tack on parallel with the floor as wasn't hardly any sides to perch it on was easy to Bend it to hold it in right spot for tacking up

Yeah, when I had 432e and the following day I was back on any mini felt painfully slow. So I was sensible and sold the 432, I'll never feel slow again

I always find the reverse. Big machines feel painfully slow after being on a mini. Of course they get the work done alot quicker but it takes so long for everything to happen. Also seems to catch operators out that are used to big machines. First time in a mini they complain about them being jerky.

I'm probably not your normal operator...I still say my jcb 8010 is the best micro out there but consensus is I'm wrong .

Whenever I went from a day on the 432 I always felt lack of progress even when I knew the reason for been on a small digger was because I couldn't fit the 432 in.

Problem I see currently is too many are influenced by others and form an opinion without actually doing the job or thinking why someone does it 'x' way.

First small machine I operated was a 1.5 tonne Kubota which was slow and jerky, followed by a 3 tonne Hitachi, which was as smooth as any bigger machine.

I understand the lack of progress. It the speed of them I find. I feel like I could sit a read the paper waiting from stick in to stick out. Obviously this is alot to do with stick in to stick out being a lot further on a bigger machine. Soon readjust. It's just the first hour changing from one to the other.
I think it takes a bit longer for someone who has sat on a 20t machine for 30 years and then jumps on a 1.5.
I always find the Facebook rants about having to drive big machines to be a man and mini digger drivers being carp funny as I think everything takes skill. Look at how many knotts an inexperienced barrow boy can tie himself in.

Yep, backhoes are generally always a fast machine, they have a high power engine for the size of the back end.. can surprise a lot of folk when getting stuck in!
