Did you notice the arch behind it? That’s going to be some impressive bridge when it’s done.

and another .......

" Mears Group turned over more than £1bn last year, with more than 40% of that coming from looking after asylum seekers. ":oops:o_Oo_Oo_O

" pre-tax profit was up by nearly a third to £46.9m ...... Mears’ largest single customer is the Home Office, with who it has an asylum accommodation and support contract (AASC). When this contract was won, in 2019, the company expected it to generate annual revenues of around £120m, which would, under normal conditions, amount to around 15% of group revenues. "
brown envelopes must've been busting at the seams then
" That one contract meant that Mears’ management-led activities saw revenues grow by 34% in 2023 to £543.3m. " ... so is it £400+m or £543m ?????? ... some very contradictory figures in this poorly assembled article

" the Home Office spent £3.6bn on asylum support costs in 2022/23, nearly double the spending in 2021/22. ":mad::mad:

Not opposed to that idea tbf . MOD owning a vital piece of engineering...that's sensible if not exactly cheap or business sense .

MOD used to have massive engineering facilities and capabilities ...
I used to do a lot of work for the ROF - guns and vehicles division in Nottingham and their smaller dept., ROF - Glascoed -- had full OSA clearance and a 100% acceptance rate ...
their QC dept. head came to see us one day to try to understand why :ROFLMAO:
Spent a lot of time out on various ranges with the Nottingham development teams, testing gear, for many years ..
some great and interesting times.:giggle:
all went to BAE systems IIRC
