MOD used to have massive engineering facilities and capabilities ...
I used to do a lot of work for the ROF - guns and vehicles division in Nottingham and their smaller dept., ROF - Glascoed -- had full OSA clearance and a 100% acceptance rate ...
their QC dept. head came to see us one day to try to understand why
Spent a lot of time out on various ranges with the Nottingham development teams, testing gear, for many years ..
some great and interesting times.
all went to BAE systems IIRC
