Just been speaking to a NVQ assessor. It reminded me of a chancer i had from an agency once a few yrs back.
Did a job and i ended up with a fair bit of external woodwork, amongst the groundworks package.
Some was nice quality decking, benches and decorative fencing etc. Also a external 'c' shaped auditorium made from ceder planking
that i was quite proud of.
So to accelerate works as the handover loomed i got in two agency guys.
First one to arrive was like a mobile festool display van. Good carpenter and worker.
Second one to arrive came on the bus with two carrier bags of tools and a Wickes drill under his arm.ONE battery and a charger!!.He only had one saw,a tenon saw that was rusty and blunt too.
So it becomes apparent that the festool guy was top tier, and the bus guy was shocking. But his redeeming factor was he became a good labourer and he was a real fun guy.He was a double for Patrick from eastenders and the site loved him.
Mr festool appreciated the extra hands. It worked so we rolled with it.
Fast forward a week and mr bus introduces a site visitor to me,an NVQ assessor. He asks me to vouch for his work on site,IE the woodwork that i had done in the weeks previously!!
As im a nice guy i walk around with the assessor and he tells me that this is some top drawer work that he is looking at and has no problem awarding an NVQ from what he sees.
It was a bitter-sweet moment having my work praised but having to play along..
Anyway, todays chat with the NVQ assessor was my NVQ 6 to get a black card..
£1500 of my hard earned for it.OUch

. This seems like the average price from a bit of googling about the internets..
Anyone on here done it recently?..
