Draining wet garden

Good idea that.

I was thinking along the same lines when I put the drain run in next to the uphill boundary but it doesn't seem to be doing the job at the moment, will expose it and see if there's any difference.

Is it running perpendicular to the flow of water? Water will just go over the top of it if it's covered and on a slope. They work best with sitting water really where has a chance to percolate down into the drain

I’ve got sane problem put all new drains in then laid out dig out ontop but basically capped it with a foot of impermeable clay filled soil so now got to go back on and dig two new drains over the top of the drains that cross garden go make a grid through the new top layer

You've got to see the funny side though- isn't this just what happens when a digger driver owns a garden?

Went back this afternoon and exposed this run. I definitely left the stone too low (about 300 from finish) but have now brought it up near the top and left uncovered.

But it is definitely picking up some water, I could see it seeping in the side of the trench.

This run is parallel to boundary, runs downhill with the garden but yes the water is coming perpendicular off the neighbouring garden.

Most of the garden is ok to work off with the track mats but the bottom corner is just soup. There's no drain on this last bit so I dug a trench down to the other drain so the standing water could run off - it was pouring through from the garden next door.

cheap perf drain, some sewer pipe. put the grinder through one sde and make a load of slots. wrap it in fabric that will stop the silt and put it slit down in the trench. Use the same thing for condensate drains where its too much hassle (cost) to reach and expose main sewer run.

Fabric clogs up to quick becomes impermeable better if letting bit of silt in and being arrived away than clogging after 3 months as all the tiny holes are blocked. Just had this in a drain I fitted 3 months ago with Geotextile sock 100 land drain perforated pipe in 10mm clean limestone end of pipe exposed sat it 2 foot of water but Geotextile blocking water cut Geotextile water drained
