JCB HTD5 track motor sprocket.

Hi guys, I've got a track motor leaking oil faster than customer can put it in. Called in passing by and attempted to get sprocket off which bent my normal puller beyond repair. Has anyone had any joy with larger pullers (15t hydraulic puller now on van) or are they a cut off sprocket job? It's had heat, wedges driven behind and puller on and didn't move a mm.

They normally fall off on there own. From memory there is a bolt on them but also a circlip, although I may be confusing it in my head

I did many years ago have to cut one off, it never gave up until the last minute! Photos

They normally fall off on there own. From memory there is a bolt on them but also a circlip, although I may be confusing it in my head

Yeah there's an M8 cap screw and washer to "retain it" but she's on there good.

I'll take cutting gear just incase then, I've been reading folk mentioning that the htd5 goes through track motors regularly i'm assuming a common problem I'll have to watch out for?

They do but mine is still on its original tracks and motors after 7 years.
Although did grind to a halt on one side last year but freed up and touchwood has been ok since

My old man tried everything, pullers, hydraulic pullers nothing…. Cut them off in the end as we were too scared of heating it too much as the motors were still good.
The new ones were about £160 from memory from JCB, and pushed straight on.
