Not at the minute Vin, but potentially a bit later in the year as we might have to add a larger machine to the fleet. If so I will offer it up here first.
Check the boom on the EC27c. You'll notice on this one that it's been plated just where the weld is on the bend in the boom. Think it was this era of Volvo that had a thing for cracking on the boom ..It is . He’s looking at that Volvo ec27c that you or was it 6 feet posted . The buckets are scabby but the machine itself is pretty square and less than 2K hours
can see why too, looking at the top of the boom ram positionCheck the boom on the EC27c. You'll notice on this one that it's been plated just where the weld is on the bend in the boom. Think it was this era of Volvo that had a thing for cracking on the boom ..

Yeah, alot of stress exerted on that weld isn't there when the boom ram extends. Poor design- how the hell do people who get paid to do nothing but come up with the best design they can manage to f**k it up so spectacularly!can see why too, looking at the top of the boom ram position![]()
Would this put you off buying or would you be happy enough if the repair was good?can see why too, looking at the top of the boom ram position![]()
The one I linked to initially from capitol plant hasn't been plated to clarify. Only the cheaper one down in Truro.Would this put you off buying or would you be happy enough if the repair was good?
But more money but newer model, different boom design and actually slightly lighter for towing than the "C"![]()

I think it was actually designed for meOne thing I really like about the EC27d is the tracks are quite a bit wider than the door side of the cab, provides a nice step down for those with geriatric/problematic knees!

Have they put a smaller engine in your bobcat now? Had a txt from localish ag dealer to say they are now the bobcat dealer for these parts- mildly more attractive now than the other lot up near Oxford£20k with five buckets and the hydraulic hitch.
Of course. Try to zoom in on the showroom photo- an absolutely insane amount of stock! I was seriously impressed. View attachment 57842View attachment 57843
No, it's always been the Kubota D1305 at 18.3kw. The next step up is the V1505, which is a four cylinder and commonly used downtuned to 26hp in Multione and Avant loaders where there is a good amount more room in the engine bay. I think the only change in my new model is the digital dash- which is exactly the same as the old dash, just digital! Maybe telematrics too.Have they put a smaller engine in your bobcat now? Just looking at the specs for the E27 (not z) and it's says 1261cc engine- thought it was bigger than that- also surprised how heavy it all becomes by the time you add additional counterweight and steel tracks...

When I bought the first E27 (my first 2.7t) it was on the shortlist because it was just under the 26hp limit, along with the KX30 and maybe something else. All other machines at the time were around 20hp and I knew that power is where it's at for Arb work. I've posted the current Bobcat specs below- you will see that they all run the same pump, the 27 just does things faster. It tracks faster, and the rams fill faster which means it lifts faster.
Yes, it does get heavy, but heavy is good! It ends up weighing similar to a TB230 but on paper has more power, breakout and pushing force. No idea if that's true but as CBL can't be arsed to give me a price never mind a demo I won't get to find out either... All I know is that the E27 has been absolutely ideal for my jobs.
The E27Z used to use the Kubota D1105, but they as well as the E10, E17 and E19 have recently switched to Yanmar. This should be an improvement for the 17 and 19, which were lacking in horsepower with the same Kubota D722 engine as the E10, just revving to the max. The specs are now a couple of hp more for those two which would improve the tracking.

On paper look great, and with potential to ‘turn it up a bit’ (might be useful for climbing steep hills). But in fairness the bobcat never feels slow even loaded, and more than one person has said to me that the kubotas are a bit slow. Add to that the rep not getting back for me and i didn’t look much harder at them.Yeah stacks up well on paper.
Did you ever try a KX027-4 for comparison? That has the V1505 1498cc putting out 24hp. Decent lump really- almost makes me want to buy one before they "upgrade" it with a 1.1. the way things are going I think diggers will only get shitter
But more slew speed with less torque is no use for timber work….Since we are playing top trumps...
The 8026 has a perkins 1.5L lump putting out 18.4KW and 96lbf ft of torque. It has more dipper breakout (although interestingly not bucket? Irrelevant for timber work anyway) More Aux flow, more weight built in so no need for any additional counterweight, more slew speed so faster cycle times and therefore more productive. The JCB 8026 was the best 2.8tonner you could buy and will be sorely missed. Its replacement has a lot to live up to and as others have said, productivity doesn't seem to be top of the list of requirements these days for manufacturers.
Who says it has more or less torque? But more slew speed with less torque is no use for timber work….
