A mate of mine (not a plant guy) is looking for a used towable 2.6 tonner . He’s quite keen on this .
He hasn’t been for a look and is considering buying it without seeing it . He lives near me and the machine is in Leicester .
I advised against buying it blind and it also has a bio oil sticker on it (which may or may not be just a sticker )
Seller advised it has a bit of play in it avereage for age and hours .
Anyone got one or had one they can pass comment on ?
Anyone dealt with the dealer (mcplantuk)?
Anyone got an honest 2.6 tonner they’d part with that might be better than buying blind !
What about yours @Pedrod355 ? He’d definitley consider it if it was for sale .

Not going to be much help but meant to be a decent machine, it was a toss up between this and the 8026.
that has the twin aux option, not sure if its the sv or the vio that had a third pump so could use attachments without losing too much flow when tracking

It has been painted apparently by the sellers . I don’t know how much of it though .

I hired an SV26 for a week once. It was ok, but couldn't stick lack of proper offset, and the hitch it had (whites) was horrendous, geometry was so bad I could barely load a 3t dumper with out the stuff falling out the bucket.
Quite an agricultural fit and finish in the cab but seemed to be powerfull enough. No where near as stable as Tak TB228/125 despite being 10cm wider though...
Personally at that money I'd wait around for something better- I don't think it's a bargain exactly. Also would NEVER buy blind again having just bought a dumper blind and it turning up with bits of the gearbox missing!

Surely that’s @JD450A’s fault as he essentially sold it to you - hopefully he’ll sort it out under warranty!

Where did the dumper come from ?

Hd machinery in Kent. In fairness I think it was probably a genuine blunder. He probably bought it in an auction and sold it straight on, and suspect the gears held long enough to get it off the lorry. Shouldn't be too much to put it right thanks to Rory's very astute knowledge of newage 40m boxes!
Monkey- I think it was probably more me trying to sell my old one to Rory rather than the other way round! Although he did rather egg me on to buy the one in Kent

That’s what I thought . Hours at nearly 3K will be starting to show a bit of king pin wear at best .

Fk. I’ve just sold my e27 over the weekend. 1950 hours on a 2019 and tight as a nut. Seriously impressed with the lack of wear in the pins. Not on steels, on a new set of rubbers.

If it falls through I’ll let you know but the buyer seems a reliable chap and has paid a deposit

As regards sv26, I tried one the other day out of curiosity (with the same grab as mine fitted). Nice machine and eager to move, a little too fast if I’m honest but you can dial both aux down which is a nice touch. I felt that it traded power and stability for speed when compared to the e27. It was plenty fast and powerful enough at 3/4 revs. Super smooth to grade with. But nowhere near as planted, which given the extra 100kg and the much longer counterweight I was very surprised with. I was using it on exactly the sort of work I’m used to so a very fair comparison I feel.

The left hand offset has to be experienced to see just how limiting it is. No way could I live with that.

And the cab is not only agricultural, it’s uncomfy. You’re feel ‘perched’ on the seat and can’t relax even though the legroom is excellent. On paper they are a great spec and I liked a good few aspects of it. But in reality, and I hate to say it as plenty would rip the piss for me running bobcat- they do feel a little cheap.

Ignore the home made cab guard, but look at the big spot welds on back of that boom for example. And the panel fit.

Absolute classic case of a five gallon refurb. As your mate has demonstrated though, some people are attracted to it! Which is why sellers do it.

I’d sooner an honest unpainted machine in working clothes any day.

Still in final stages of negotiations but around £14k with hydraulic hitch and three buckets. Although I already have s30 hitch and buckets on the way to go on it so it’ll be a bit less.

There’s one E27 left if you want to do the same. 2023 manufacture year / 2024 model year (sorry, I took the 24/24!)

I have a few who were after mine that I can pass details on to also.

Yanmar were cheap at £30,750 with hydraulic hitch and three buckets. Cat £31,750 for the same and JCB £36k for the same. . Kubota and Takeuchi reps never got back to me so fk em.

At £33-34k for the same spec the Bobcat might sound pricey but having recently sat in all bar the jcb it’s honestly a premium product as far as I’m concerned. Nothing else as planted, powerful and comfortable.

I also sat in a cabbed E20 which made me briefly consider chopping in my e19 canopy, until reason intervened (shite 1.7t/1.9t residuals currently and I need to remove canopy more frequently than one might imagine). What a nice little digger to spend a day in. Incredibly roomy cab- and it’s a zero!

Within a week- needs pdi and hitch kit fitting plus swap a cloth seat into it from an e27z. Straight to tank valve is already fitted, I'm not bothering with a case drain this time. Also, these examples don't have the 'lifting kit', which is fine by me as I never used it and from messing about in the dealer's yard with just the boom and tipping links held together by the packagine strap, I reckon it'll grade better without check valves too.
