Beautiful bit of work there, Giles.
Bare ground to encourage native fauna to naturally regenerate. In this case heather, but it's also common to do them for chalk downland. You want to remove organic matter down to the original nutrient deficient soil.Conservation scrapes ....can u explain when you get a minute ?
Ive never heard of one.

And the theory behind them needing to be wavy ??Bare ground to encourage native fauna to naturally regenerate. In this case heather, but it's also common to do them for chalk downland. You want to remove organic matter down to the original nutrient deficient soil.

It went to a dump site on a low value habitat about 400 yards awayall that open space and you had to muck away. crazy

Looks more fun than my day stuck in front of the screen. Your Ranger must be newer than my last one as mine wouldn't tow 3500kgSteel tracks pretty much essential on this greasy shite.5 hours on it today and half the big stuff is pulled. Will clear it up with the log grab on the alpine, then give it a pass with the cut and collect when the bramble shoots.
A much better conservation result for chalk downland than the roboflail they originally asked for. View attachment 57403View attachment 57404View attachment 57405View attachment 57406

I’ll have you know that I towed the digger to the track with the iveco daily. Then unhitched, went back and got the ranger. Drove to site, hitched up, engaged 4wd low and towed it to where you see it!@doobin’s tows 4 plus, I think it must have been an Irish import!
Local operator (now sadly deceased) always used to have the machine out on site before 6am with the Ag Tractor + Low Loader. Think it was a 15tonner so pushing the boundaries.I always find it’s nice to get going early when you might be towing ‘around’ the limit, usually quiet around 4am!
