Rototilt and Idig working in perfect harmony on this pool dig, just a shame they weren't fitted to a larger machine, but restricted access down the side of the house meant 23 loads of muck had to come out with 3t machine and dumper. got a bit tedious

They won't rot away in a hurry
Where from and how much ? Far to many people using treated softwood sleepers to form retaining walls imho.

Machine handled them perfect to be fair. They are 180kg ish each so not too bad, was more annoying unloading them 1 at a time.

I got them from a place called watling reclamations. Were obviously left over from someone else's retaining wall job. There is a stick on side of some showing who manufactured them il take a photo when im back out there. They were £40 each and transport was fair bit getting them down to Surrey but were one of the nicest ones i found that weren’t overly beefy. Didnt want to use timber sleepers even the old railway ones, wanted something that will last and i think looks pretty decent aswell.They won't rot away in a hurry

Look like they have a decent finish, I've used larger precast sections but they always look a bit agricultural

Ahh, when we got the machine our basement/piling contractor sorted the machine for us as they run alot of taks. He said stick steels on it, dont think they have a single set of rubbers on their fleet. Would never have anything different now ours spends 95% of time on site so no need for rubbers worst case can chuck some boards/mats down if have to be on finish work. We did buy a set of rubbers for it but they very rarely get used.

I only wondered as the only 1.6t I've ever seen on steels was a piling contractor!
I'm a big fan of steels on my 2.7t.

Yeh i think they make 90% of jobs easier and last so much longer. Do you know roughly the weight of the ones on your 2.7?

Well when we bought from CBL they said yes, im bit dubious as they have popped of couple of times when they have been on. I just put it down to being in rough ground/a little slack. Im not expert but if sprockets are in good nick shouldnt be a problem, although i guess steels vs rubbers will wear sprockets different.are they a straight swap over then??

Looking at new specs on E27... steel track option ADDS 130kg IIRC. Presumably that's offset against not having rubber ones which must weigh a fair bit.
