Not good on a digger that age, how many hours?
Nigh on 2000 hours of the hardest work possible. I do abuse it. It’s only a very slight crack, not like my old Hyundai where the whole lot started to go.

When it lifts a track with a bloody great lump of timber there’s a heck of a lot of pressure on that join. It gets even worse as you then carry it across the ground. Day in day out. It's nothing like sitting in one place and scratching a trench out with the blade down. If there's a weak spot in a machine timber work will find it- just ask a forestry contractor!

Personally I agree with Thomas. I'd be fkn seething.
What can manufacturers do? There's always going to be a stress point there, and it's not the weld that failed. They can't use thicker plate for the track frames because then it's over the towing limit, we the punters keep demanding more powerful diggers that weigh under 2700kg.

Possibly a longer toe on that plate would help. The other side is longer and it's fine but that's also blade side so not a fair comparison.

Nearly done, just blind it off with some type1 tomorrow. 6 dump trailer loads of hardcore out, 4 soil(I took a big gamble that the field was dry enough - it was somehow!!) and 2 x 6f2 back in!(forum police - all kept on the same site!) 1 scrap skip and 1 mixed waste skip!
Engcon comes into its own for this type of job 👌🏻
Surprising amount of stuff for a small area!

All they can do is listen to feedback, maybe if they actually even asked for feedback that would be a good start!! JCB used to be great for this, I hear nothing of them anymore 🫣

Finished shuttering final stairs on job today ready for pour tomorrow. We did 3 before xmas break. Always pretty satisfying once its done.

New ram arrived. Thread fit seems very good.

However I’m not sure 14.5mm of M18 thread is up to the job. Certainly not if they break as often as it seemed from talking to the dealer. Was loctited. @V8Druid ?

Take quite a bit of pressure or force to strip those threads clean off with a good fitting piston. Like V8 suggests you could remove the wear bands and fit a grub screw or retaining pin to prevent undoing and possibly add additonal support for the threads. Adding an additional ram seems like it would be quite a bit of additional work vs getting a better cylinder made up that can handle the extra strain.

Been bloody wet here - bit of a scrat getting access to the tip for muck away - and quarry access down to the stockpiles of stone was as rough as buggery last time we went, this time we found they had laid a new road :)
Got there in the end - back later in the year when its drier to put a treatment system in.
Customer on tomorrows little job has cut a few little trees down that are strewn all over ...so chipper has come out to help tidy up, not been used for many weeks and started first pull ...good old honda :)

Better grades of steel and basic engineering principles.

That said having owned and abused plenty of diggers beyond groundworks formats and have never had a crack start or develop anywhere on the undercarriage.

I'd be pissed off.... Enough said.
I'd agree. Had my Taks forcing granite boulders out of the ground and hoofing them around for the last 14 years, chucking timber and brash around is far easier in comparison although stumps can be harsh if theyre monsters, never had a weld go- that said- I'll be checking the track frame tomorrow😂

Had united utilities out to site yesterday, they wanted to check the top water was split from the foul, fair enough.
Showed them the last foul manhole on site, Weren’t interested in that.. dyed all the gullies then camera down the last rainwater m/h as way of checking. Fella said yeah you should see the camera going out of the pipe into the rubble(soakaway) 🤯
now my common sense said to me just pull the last foul m/h and check no dye was going into the foul job done, or am I being too simple 😂
