Thank you.Thread '2020 Mecalac 6MCR Skid-Excavator for sale! Excellent Condition.' https://www.planttalk.co.uk/threads...-excavator-for-sale-excellent-condition.3652/
@APhillips is the man to ask on all things MacalacI'm thinking about getting one of these. Anyone got reasons ya or nay?
Thanks!
doesn't get in here that frequently @Keif .. he's the man to talk to for Mecs though ... that is very clean, or is it new out the box? ... has the conventional dipper ram set up too ... what sort of cost is that Stateside?@APhillips you still around?
Yeah it's new. 141k usd with skid bucket, 24" bucket and pallet forks. I think there is negotiating power now for the buyer which is a nice change. I haven't confirmed the warranty but I think it's only 1yr! If that's true I'll start looking at used ones.doesn't get in here that frequently @Keif .. he's the man to talk to for Mecs though ... that is very clean, or is it new out the box? ... has the conventional dipper ram set up too ... what sort of cost is that Stateside?

Found him on Instagram. Didn't realize he worked for mecalac.doesn't get in here that frequently @Keif .. he's the man to talk to for Mecs though ... that is very clean, or is it new out the box? ... has the conventional dipper ram set up too ... what sort of cost is that Stateside?
Me neither
Have you run a tb260? I need traction force and lift power. I think the specs show the 260 being better in these areas but that doesn't seem right with the mecalac being heavier and having 50% more power. Thanks for the tags guys, I will certainly try to help where I can when it comes to Mecalac!
To give some background, I worked for Terex/Mecalac from 2010 up until 2021 in various roles from Development engineer, product specialist/demonstrator, product marketing manager etc but had an opportunity to join a small Mecalac excavator specialist in the southwest, we also ran 2 Mecalac's ourselves. Unfortunately for a variety of reasons I ended up leaving the southwest and finding myself back in the midlands at Mecalac UK in April 2023.
The 6MCR is a real pocket rocket, I have spent a good amount of time on a machine very similar to the one in the picture and the 'excavator style' dipper arrangement makes it a far more familiar machine to run when compared to the traditional Mecalac boom, the only downside is that you loose some power for pushing and lifting, not so much an issue with the MCR as you can put the bucket against the blade. In general they no less reliable than the majority of other brands out there, of course some people can be unlucky and have niggles but I know Mecalac North America are putting a lot of effort into the support structure over there. You can't directly compare machine prices with the US either, pricing structures are quite different to the UK/Europe due to various reasons.
If you are a skid steer user you can get a skid adapter plate that will allow you to use the majority of your skidsteer attachments right out the gate, the only tools it may struggle with would be anything classed as 'high flow' as 'high flow' skidsteers pack a lot of flow/pressure, the 6MCR has 90L/min auxiliary flow (independent to travel) which is great for running flails etc however I have found that the biggest benefit of the independant travel hydraulics is that in general work the movement of the boom/slew remains so much more consistent compared to other machines.

I would look to confirm the warranty too, standard warranty is typically 2yr 3000hr but I am not sure if the US structure is different.
Feel free to message me if you have any specific questions.
that's the three piece boom .. you'll grow to love it very quickly ... that and the off setHave you run a tb260? I need traction force and lift power. I think the specs show the 260 being better in these areas but that doesn't seem right with the mecalac being heavier and having 50% more power.
Funny this one has what's called a "normal" excavator arm because it felt pretty weird to me but I think I liked it.
Unfortunately my experience of other manufacturers has been fairly limited, the majority of my experience has been on Mecalacs. I would be surprised if the lifting specs were particularly lower than another manufacturers 6t machine, general rule of thumb for a Mecalac is that it would lift between 35 and 40% of its own weight, but this is based on the 'Mecalac boom' as the underslung cylinder does provide a higher lift force when compared to the 'excavator style'.Have you run a tb260? You know what that means…. Forum day out to Mecalac UK![]()
what was that Mec duck I had a little 'play' with, when Alex and I came to one of your 'dig days' up in the midlands, Adam ? ... was a very nice machine .. I was hampered by the underslung dipper ram's travel range (not having used one before) - took a bit of getting used to and not knowing where all the controls were (axle locks, etc.) but was seriously planted and the lift demo you gave was seriously impressive. I can see why ppl buy them - hell of a tool for their sizeUnfortunately my experience of other manufacturers has been fairly limited, the majority of my experience has been on Mecalacs. I spent a lot of time (2500hrs roughly) on a 7MWR which is the wheeled equivalent of the 6MCR and remember having to lift a 120 roller out of a stick situation, those typically weigh around 2700kg, which I considered pretty impressive, obviously this wasn't at any significant reach, but it still moved it. I have also seen an 8MCR lift a 4200kg crusher bucket, again pretty impressive!
With regards to tractive force, again I would be surprised, I know of a number of customers working in the UK in timber extraction applications where they are running tow hitchs and trailers hauling impressive loads for the size of the machine, I did have a thread in the 'members blog' section where there are some pictures of our 8MCR and trailer, prior to the 8MCR we used a 6MCR and it managed well enough!
As Graham mentions, once you get your head around the 3 piece boom, and in particular the Mecalac one you will love it, I really struggle with standard machines these days as I feel massively limited in how the boom moves vs the Mecalac.
Certainly something I could propose to the team later in the year, we are a little low on demo units at present but later in the year we should have our new machines, Its likely this year we will have an 8MCR (Already have this) and 11MWR rubber duck, TLB990 backhoe, 9t Revotruck dumper and some standard dumpers too.

Talking of flails on the other thread ... remember the first time I saw a video of a mec flailingThat was an 11MWR, We have had 9MWR's for the past few years and feel like we needed a change this year, I have been trying to convince the team that we should get a 15MWR as they are actually very comparable price wise to the equivalent Volvo or Liebherr but it doesn't look like it will be going that way at present, which is a shame as the 15 is a monster!
The Mecalac boom geometry does take a minute to get your head around, for me the underslung dipper cylinder means you tend to operate the intermediate boom far more than on a traditional '3-peice boom' machine and that's where operators tend to get caught out, on the MWR its simple as your left foot can live on the pedal for the intermediate boom and you can operate all 3 functions (dipper, inter boom and main boom) at the same time, on the MCR its a bit different as this is not possible when you are tracking (and we tend to track a lot!) so you tend to use the button on the right Joystick to swap between the main and intermediate booms a lot, I know one machine where the operator has nearly worn through this button in under 1000hrs he uses it so much.
