do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
Well we got a day out of it! At least I can say my weld had good penetration!

They’re sending me a new one. Tried to say that it was down to abuse, but I said it never happens on a site dumper (which commonly has retards driving) does it? Then sent them a link to this thread and @V8Druid s comments.

I don’t want to be the sort that threatens trial by social media but what else can you do these days? I’m the first to sing it’s praises, it’s a bloody brilliant machine but it’s had an awful lot go wrong with it that just shouldn’t.

Anyway for tomorrow I’ve just welded the gland both sides. Won’t move now but it will most likely contact the weld at the end of the stroke, which long term would lead to bits flaking off. Will change the ram when the new one arrives Monday. View attachment 56576View attachment 56577View attachment 56578View attachment 56579
and what are they doing about your oil tank leak???

did well to keep the piston on all day BTLs ... small weld is not the same as 40-50mm of threads properly cut threads
if you haven't re-assembled it yet I'd through drill the piston and put an 8mm silver steel pin in there under the centre bands ;)

I know it's a faff but I really would strip and check the new one when it arrives ... if you've wobbly/poorly cut threads in the piston/rod interface it'll happen again .... if it doesn't spin on sweet as, with zero rattle /tolerance it ain't fit for purpose

I guess £30 is better than nothing when everything sits under all that white stuff!

I hope cost of living/exchange rate makes this better than it first appears?

I reckon it would be really satisfying walking behind one of those machines - not something I’d want to do full time but getting paid for the odd hour here and there contributing towards a machine already owned for personal use is a win-win I’d say!
