I would have thanked him for his honesty & admitting the damage to the lamp. Then asked him for insurance details or a forwarding address for the invoice for a new lamp.

We had a tight entrance to a job once neighbours on the road would park right up to it and mean you couldn’t swing anything in, so i had some bulk bags of sand dropped either side to stop them, one real Cnut of ginger haired Karen loved trying to tell me it was illegal etc and she was going to call the police etc (my mrs at time was a solicitor for the police processing cases pre trail) they weren’t interested but started a harassment cases against the ginger muppet. anyway i fobbed her off and next thing she’s on saying she’d crashed into the sand bags and wanted my insurance details to claim Lol. I was like you crashed into a static 1 ton soft sand bag lol i was like ill get the coppers back for driving without due care and attention lol!
Anyway she slashed the bags one evening but was all on camera so she got done in the end for harassing the clients and we cleared the sand up when we left was a great excuse for not moving them after she’d slashed the bags told all the neighbours it was her fault haha

As soon as you do anything on the road people's brains just melt.
I've said before on here the biggest obstacle to maintaining our roads is traffic management. And the traffic management has to be so ott due to the drivers. If people drove sensibly around road workers the cost to maintain and improve the roads would shrink massively

I've used spentrade on eBay for some barriers, bought a pallet of new oxfords and some second hand JSP navigator all for a recent TM job I did.
Cones - Buy new, not worth buying second hand will have missing sleeves and all sorts, i prefer one piece rubber cones personally.
Signs - What do you need, could go down the Q Fit frames and pop on and off with the toggles (I zip tie the toggle to stop the plates being nicked) Metal frames and Zintec plates are cheap enough, but you need to get them riveted (rivet all mine in an attempt to stop them booting them through) alternatively there is the plastic ones, not used them myself, seem fragile but can get a weight block from them - Spentrade has loads.
Sand bags - buy pre filled, best thing I ever did, the pain in filling them is not worth it and as others have said, you will go through them, people carry them off, drag frames around shredding them to pieces and pouring them out.
All takes up a lot of space when you got a bit to store (Wife can tell you that, as half of it is in the garden)

One piece cones aren't chapter 8 compliant for road use. If the normal cones get hit, before they get to bad slam them down on top of a good cone and it pops them back into shape giving them a bit more life.
We use these frames. They are very light and very forgiving to being hit. They are imo the best frames, they also don't pinch your fingers or snag your clothes like metal ones

The recycled plastic signs like this break easily if hit and are heavy plus are really thick so take a lot of storage space. The faces also fail quickly as they are stickers rather than printed like the other plastic type and metal ones.

For barriers these are best as they are the only type that the feet are the same width as the body making them far easier to store and transport. And clips are a nuisance when cold and then go loose and won't stay clipped together. Feet are cheap to replace when run over aswell. You can also get pedestrian safe feet that are harder to trip on
