The 'Today's Job' thread

Seen as we have gone on to the subject which we have. How do we deal with the needing to go whilst on a job. In this instance I'm not talking about a job lasting x weeks where you'd factor in a portable shite house but the day here n the 3 day there jobs.

Years of training to only need the loo first or last thing. A good tradesman is like a guide dog, only shits at home.

I used to do lots of day work on the 3CX, highways jobs were worse! Was a case of angle the back actor nicely and you had a ready made cubicle…always awkward on a mid town street! forward facing only They all have welfare vans now, as a lot of gangs have women on them.

More that it's a legal requirement and hse will prosecute for lack of welfare facilities. Only truly mobile gangs can go without.

I think mobile gangs should have a welfare van too, we were always ‘mobile’ on for the council, everyone still went up behind wheels etc, as if they are driving back to the yard!

We had a guy turn up surveyor for water board in small van had these gel packets you rip and pee in turns solid etc so can number 1 in the van etc while on the road he gave us a few. Apart from dumping a new one in someone’s brew as a joke we never used them, would solidify their coffee lol

Didn't fancy blunting my knife tidying up the edges of the teram after rolling in the hardcore. Pint of kerosene and a 4" masonry brush and all sorted.

I've got a mini flame thrower type lighter and it's perfect for cutting both terram and woven membranes.

I use scissors, knifes are always a pain! Fire sounds better though!

It beats any blade full stop. On the woven stuff it seals it too, so no frayed edges.

They aren't expensive either, round about £9 to buy.

It is literally hot knife through butter, so can cut it to exact size as you go too so no faffing triming bits off for awkward corners ect

I have some 'mini-flame thrower lighters .. throwaways (but refillable) four for a quid in a pound shop .. great in a wind ... can solder with them

I refill mine once a year'ish.

Deffo the way forward on cutting membrane.
