Im about to drop a not inconsiderable sum on a new mini.
The Volvo ec20e is currently front runner.

Do any of you have much experience of this machine? Doesn’t seem to be many about.

Think they’re worth it over the ec18e? Price diff is nearly £7k!

I've no experience with the newer volvo minis but 7k to go up 200kg is a lot of money.

They look good, 16hp engine and a very good aux flow. But £7k more than the one below?? Are you sure you weren’t given a canopy price for one and a cab price for the ec20?
nope both canopy machines.
Guess I thought the ec20 was a good half way house between 2.7 which would be too big for most our sites . Turns out it’s a half way house on the price too

Yea when you say it like that it does seem a lot.
The volvo 18 we hire seemed a little gutless which is why i'm looking at the 20

How much is a Takeuchi tb225? They look the best halfway-house to me.

The 18 could well be the 'hire special' with gear pumps and basic foot pedals, with the 20 having piston pumps, twin aux on joystick rollers etc?

Still a lot of money though, the Bobcat eqivalent would be E17 (hire special) and E19 or E20 (owner op). Only 2k between them from memory, but probably closer to 4k by the time you add joystick rollers and a second auxillary on the boom.

You need to compare spec lists between these models and other brands to see where the money is at.

even Rory speaks well of the Sany brand .... and that is praise indeed :ROFLMAO:................. but know what you mean
have used a sany 1.9 it was ok not the smoothest but plenty of power to it did everything i needed to do i thought it would be a pile of shite but was pleasantly surprised to be honest.

Had a look round this the other day and it looked o.k tbf - I wouldn't buy one at this stage but prob an o.k machine....saying that I had 5mins in a brand new 3.5t Kubota the other day and although it looked well put together it was seriously noisy and agricultural, couldn't hear someone on the ground unless they were shouting !!

I’ve done 12 months with my liugong 9018 and I’ve not been on another machine in that time, of any size that I’d rather drive, it just does everything i ask of it effortlessly. And other than a modified blade ram (which took an age to come) it’s not been any bother, I just jump on it, do my job and park it up. I’ve said before it’s fast, smooth and comfortable to sit in. At under £17k if I was buying another of that size I wouldn’t even get a price off another manufacturer.

as for folk saying they won’t buy chinese, go buy a new cat, where’s that made? And it’s £10k more than a liugong for a 2.7ton with less spec. That my friends is cat tax.

@TriTurbo if you get over this side of the pennines, and i offer this to anyone, you’re more than welcome to try machine on site in a real work environment. Nobody that’s driven it hasnt been surprised just how well it drives

Did you go for a EC20e in the end? Wondering what they're like too. Have seen an EC18 which looked nicely put together and like the features such as offset is on the joystick etc. But then looking at lift capacity it's less than my 216- the EC20 is quite a bit more poke but only another 200kg heavier ...
