O.M.G. !!! :oops::oops:
Yep - shock horror indeed. Seem to recall that my Disco 3 had a similar recall. WFT does JLR not learn basic stuff
So, on Thursday the Evoque went into the Main Stealers for the day. Rod was given a curtsy car.
AND the Amazon Ying Tong Driveshaft is still working fine. So I guest that it an OEM part after all :ROFLMAO:

Early Christmas present to self - nice little 10" 'top handle' job.
Assembled yesterday and due for testing today.....

….bought this because my 029 is a bit too heavy to use on trees up the cherry picker 🥸
Those are a great wee saw. I have had one now for over 2 years, didn’t hold alot of hope for it but its been great. So light and handy thats its my go to saw now😄

That’s good to know Aiden 👍🏻
Used it yesterday to prune back some overgrown Laurel bushes. Grandsons were clearing away the brash with the dumper.
They loved it and I loved my new toy 😎
Now looking at a bigger 20” version to back up the Stihl 029 😉

Do yourself a favour and check the chain brake on these chinky saws....there's a reason they £75...wouldn't touch one with a bargepole personally but each their own 😊

Excellent advice, many thanks (y)
IF I get a 20" as above then it will a back up machine for occasional use ;)
Chain brake on this little one works OK. BUT I'll check it each time I use it (which won't be often).
The 'go to' machine is my trusty old Stihl 029, been rebuilt many times - bit like triggers broom

So yesterday while it was pissing down with rain from Storm Henk I decided to deal with the woodworm in the loft timbers.
Not bad but ideal to do it when it's not too hot and Sharon had the Xmas Decorations deployed 🤪
IMG_2093.jpeg

So here's me all kitted up ready to go. Bought some basic PPE to reduce the risk to my health.
The 'garden spayer' was remarkably effective it getting the stuff on the timbers.

While I was up there after cleaning up, beefed up the insulation in and around where the Xmas Decorations are going back.
Did about a third, the rest I'll do later....

So last week, we were lucky that Storm Henk didn't cause too much damage here at Two Akers World HQ
Just a few things blown about and light nuisance flooding.....
IMG_2094.jpeg

My pile of 'come in handy' salvaged timer unsheeted...
IMG_2095.jpeg

Minor flooding of the low spot adjacent to my Barn Yard....
IMG_2096.jpeg

Few sheets of my 'come in handy' Celotex seconds blown about....
IMG_2097.jpeg

Minor flooding in the yard behind the Barn. The pink hose (faded old fire hose) pumps out from the low spot-it was overwhelmed.

So, now I am 'semi-retired' what ever that means :ROFLMAO: I was thinking of having a good old tidy up.
AND sorting out the general drainage, we are on clay and the plot is more or less flat
So after the top soil is saturated it hangs around unless I pump it away to the old ditch at the front.

Initial thoughts are to use perforated land drain pipes to a 200litre sump using a plastic barrel.
This sump can receive all drained water which can then:
1. Overflow in our rainwater harvest tanks (the old septic tank chambers)
2. When full pump out to the front ditch

There's quite a bit of work involved, but I can start working towards getting it done

I even had puddles of water standing on the planings on me patch Dave and have some pretty big drainage channels under/around it .... was some bit wet and wild ... land drain sumps have only just quietened to a trickle, but still draining:rolleyes:

Yes I remember you putting that drainage in under yer yard. Trouble is that it all compacts down and the seepage through it all slows down
Same in my Barn back yard - there is a land drain under there. And given time it all goes away ;)
So me thinks that come Spring/Summer I'll give the drainage problem a sorting out, if we survive the winter 🤪

Well sp
whats the gulley in the 2nd picture ? does it go anywhere ?
Well spotted Bob 👍🏻
It was a bodge up a few years ago to get rid of water when I washed stuff a few years ago.
Linked into a perforated pipe land drain round the back to the low spot 🤪
Works well but gets overwhelmed in heavy rain 😱
I will link it to any new drainage system
Work in progress you might say 😉

Oh yes - the concrete runs down into ok 👍🏻
And the area around it is assorted type 1 and tish waiting for me to decide to concrete or block 🙄
Obviously will need the obligatory scrape down first 😎

Out playing with the Neuson yesterday in a neighbours grade. Rubbish has built up. And there's loads of rats going for the other neighbours chickens.
The rubbish is a few tons of hardcore piled up against my fence where I have a hedge. Said neighbour was supposed to keep it trimmed. But after his marriage broke up he has let a lot of things go
"Dave can't you just clear it with yer digger"
IMG_2338.jpeg

Rocked up with the landscape rake etc
IMG_2340.jpeg

Rats had nested between the fence stuff and under the hardcore etc
IMG_2341.jpeg

Nice deep hole for the hardcore etc
IMG_2343.jpeg

Many rats 🐀🐀🐀were made homeless :devilish:

IMG_2345.jpeg

Neighbour is renewing his fence tomorrow. I know there will be snags. His wife ordered them without measuring properly
IMG_2344.jpeg

Bit of basic grading ready for final fettling after I've done my hedge
So on the above photo, top right - that big 6 roof is my barn/workshop.
And that's the height that I maintain the hedge at...
...and top left, you can see how the hedge has 'got away' :(
So now gonna come back with dumper, chainsaws and hedge cutter on Saturday.
Will have two grandsons helping and make it fun for us all :)

Last night the phone goes “Dave my machine operator has left down for a fencing job tomorrow. Can you just pop along and rip the hedge out?”
“Now you know I’m semi retired-of course I can help you out” 😎
“Oh and while you’re there can you just batter bank the soil it sloping and we need to put in two concrete gravel boards” 🙄
“Sure thing I’ll get loaded up and see y’all in the morning “
IMG_2604.jpeg

So here I am all loaded this morning and phoned up before leaving. “You’ll have to go through the garage there’s a skip in the lane” 🙄
So explained that I’m 8’6” in my socks and it won’t go through a garage. I’ll see you when you get the skip moved 🤪
IMG_2605.png

Here’s a street view of the property. No way will it go through that garage 🙄
Access should be up that gravel drive to the left to prepare the site for them to install 32 panels of fencing 🤔
This is one of those jobs that just gets bigger with more snags. Looks like I’m gonna do a site visit today 🤣

So I popped over and did a site visit at lunch time. I could have made a start after all. The skip was on the drive and not in the lane 🙄
IMG_2608.jpeg

So good job I checked it out
“It’s at least a two day clearing that lot. Bring yer chipper and I’ll be there first thing in the morning. Don’t forget I’m an operator not a labourer “ 🤣
