I had done a lot of work on the continent in the past and mini tower cranes seemed the thing. At the time we were still at the traditional rough terain forklift (pre telehandlers) or 3CX fork stage. I thought a lot about buying a few 3.5t towable mini tower cranes to rent out, but luckily my current business took off. Still think they would be good for single house builds, especially if going SIPPS route.
even back in the early '70,s when I had my first experiences of Eu touring holidays as a kid/young teenager, with my parents, those little self erectors were every where .. single house builds/chalets/small dev.s of 4 or 5 flats ...
and some of the places they'd put them in the Austrian/Swiss alps, took some believing .....
without them some of the locations'd've been a nightmare to work on ....
could never understand why they never took off in the UK.
Ruston Bucyrus actually made one on a 10RB chassis/running gear ...
local chap had one he'd bought at an auction and could never work out how to get it up ....
it ended up in Malta - chap by the name of Chris ????? used to come over twice a year, early 80,s, buying cranes and excavators and always called to see us and he bought it, after I'd shown it to him, for not a lot.
