Busy day pushing paper and pressing keys today, then Charles arrived to catch up on some outstanding fabrication jobs. The pecker bracket was back from the galvanisers (finally) so that got remounted and tested, then the sticky out bit of the bracket removed and put in the bag with the hose extensions and knocker cup. Then as it’s been only 12 months since we broke the tailgate on the Dmax, we finally got around to adding some ally plate to protect it. (Bit late as it’s been well beaten allready)

Charles is a clever sod. He was recommended to me about 3 or 4 years ago to make some mesh sides for the Movano. He's done loads of fabrication for us since, including the micro crane trailer. Will do a mini V8Druid style thread for that when I get a minute.nice bracket.. looks to be a hell of a pecker for the machine

Bashing bushes in the run up , been at it too long to get enthusiastic about this sort of stuff but it all brings night and its in the village, needed to show a tiny bit more willing before the weekend....that might well be it though now

found a frame to mount the telescope bit too for washing and painting
made a big impact on the job today
this is a lot bigger on the ground than it was on the crane
pulled the rams from this so I could get to the bolts that they covered
then off with the main tower the lightest part
and finally the offending slew ring
now removed
out in the lorry again tomorrow so Fridays job de-grease and wash the chassis ready for the new ring

yes the piping up would take a bit of doing if the cable ties get cut off

the guys in Amesbury who did my ring told me under no circumstances to use the old bolts ... will have been torqued to the max new and then have had all the stresses and strains of a life's service .... aside from the inconvenience of snapping any dogging it back down, they'll have reached their service life - end of .... if you have three snapped (if you snapped 'em undoing them they couldn't have been far off letting go) they'll all be in need.Well definitely replace the three snapped ones

Oh I didn’t snap any taking it to bits
but the break was half way in the nut had to undo the nut a full turn or more then found the ‘old rusty’ break within the nut
