What do we think about these then? The impoverished amongst us might appreciate them for tidying up and landscaping. Obviously they don't tilt but seems that with a combination of using the crowd angle and the rotate youd get some pretty good angling going on...

I use rotate more than I do tilt, and if I didn't have houses in both the home counties AND the French Riviera I would go rotate over tilt. That reminds me, must get a nice big pad in the alps next , maybe once my new business signing bust rubber tracks takes off

I considered most of the halway houses on the way to a tilty.....but at that price surely you'd be better off waiting for a used unit to suit.

alright under a tilt hitch if you already have one, but dear old buckets otherwise ........ at least the welding looks decent on them ... one trick pony though

The trouble is though and I really don't mean to bring up the tilty debate again but... The vast majority of my work I would absolutely not want a tilty on the end. Most of what I do is pretty rough going and I require maximum breakout and lifting capacity. Whether it's the 3t or 8t they're generally at the limit alot of the time when it comes to lift so for that reason I'd not want anything to retard that or subject an expensive tilty to that kind of thing. The rotating grab is handy sure but also a pain in the arse when your trying to push boulders around etc which is why I generally favour a thumb. However there is the jobs where a rotating bucket would be bleddy handy- tidying up after walling jobs and sorting tracks out etc so just wondered whether this option would tick a box in that regard or actually whether it'd just be frustrating to use not being able to tilt...

In the videos of that rotating bucket they don’t have half the range of movement or control you have with a tiltrotator. I’d look to fit an s type hitch and buckets to your machine, and then sandwich a secondhand tilty between the genuine scandi bucket and top hitch when you want to do that kind of work. Just use the thumb/grab or the rotating grab directly under the s type hitch when you need to be persuasive with some rocks.

Then piping the 3 tonner to take the extra set of hoses, all the bracketry and extra buckets to suit it etc, it's all ok going to add up. This option just seemed fairly hassle free and relatively inexpensive. I suppose what I should do is grab a grading bucket under the rotating grab on the 8t and only using the rotate see what range of motion I can achieve with it- might be adequate for my needs

I have a @CPS Bucket for the 219..... its built of depleted uranium and has it's uses. However for the bulk of jobs the wear inflicted on a reasonably expensive attachment is horrific.

I fitted a used spring lock quick hitch to one of my machines recently...oh its great....I've a tilting ditcher which came from factory with an edge on the front as well as the rear but I'm told if you use the back of a ditcher then your no good.

Speaking of wear on expensive attachments... my secondhand tilty has close to 3000 hours on it. There was a lot of play in the tilt ram rod end, and looking at it I assumed I'd need to ream the casting and fit and oversize pin and spherical bush. Having taken it apart, there is not a jot of wear in the casting. The pin and sherical bush has taken all the wear (as it should). Twenty minutes on a lathe and a new 25mm spherical bush later and it's as tight as new. The previous owner renewed the bracketry that holds the other end of the tilt ram- no idea why he didn't do the rod end!

Seriously impressed with Engcon build quality so far.

That's the only parts that have worn in my Rototilt, replaced them recently at similar hrs. probably being over fussy as there wasn't a lot of movement just wanted to keep on top of it. I thought the main pivot pins and bushes would wear first but they're still tight.

I think they are generally a lot tougher than people think, whatever colour, i remember being a bit cautious when i first had mine.

I did break mine once .... being way too silly with it and combined with the fact that I'd not doubled up on some of the welds in, what proved in hindsight, to be a critical area (it'd been put together, for a previous incarnation, that didn't get the sort of stresses I was putting on it that day) and was missing a fair amount of welds
was soon fixed, mod.-ed up and improved with a 'new' QH ... I'd been 'pinning' buckets/att.s on 'til then ... had sorted a highly modified Hill hitch to go on there, but hadn't gotten around to it (or developed the enthusiasm to pull it to bits to do it)
