But this is the trouble with a tiltrotator. Plenty will put a standard 3 tonner out there for £300 a day. And just thinking of some of the jobs I've been on recently a tiltrotator would make very little difference to productivity. So what do you do? Price yourself higher to justify the tilty and possibly lose out on a lot of work or chuck the tilty in for "free" . Price work is probably where it's at for tilty work I reckon and the right kind of work at that.
Well I agree there is an issue regarding dicks who who for nowt but thats not really a tilty issue.

Ive seen your walling work and it looks brilliant in the photos..... but I think your prob is transport.

The reason why a 3t and tilty doesnt make sense to you is because it prob doesnt

Aim higher.

Said it before but a swb 12/13t truck with a 5/6t machine ecoil/grab and a few attachments and you would never look back.

I think the key point is the original posts where about man and machine hire. In which case sod any attachments the client isn't paying for. If the increased productivity is going in your pocket its a different matter

Vast majority of our work is price, for the rest my day rate has gone up and clients have seen the productivity and not batted an eyelid, if they dont want to pay it they can go elsewhere.
Got to get off the bottom if you can ...who the feck wants to work with old fashioned kit just because their crappy clients cant see the benefits.

Longer it takes, more you get paid, less out lay and the crappy customer is still happy to part with money as they know no different and are still over the moon with what you've done for them.

Theres folk who'd have a go at doing that for the firewood!
Me once upon a time (back when I’d just bought my first digger).

Now with stuff like this as a seemingly limitless byproduct from the sawmill, I don’t want for firewood. And for selling it, it really needs to be processor grade to be profitable.

We’re only making this oak into firewood because the spec was to clear it all away. It’s a pain to process and makes messy logs. The big old union from the mid point (Multione absolutely on its knees so around 1.3t) was on its way back to the yard destined for the fire but Rob stopped and had a chat with a guy carving a stump on the way. Another £100, result

Apparently the guy we were working for got two other quotes. Our 3k was the cheapest.

We got all but the digger and multione loaded up and back to the yard today. Rob and I will pop back tomorrow for a final rake up (used the broom on the loader to sort most of it last thing today). Meeting the owner (rental property) tomorrow and will give a price to fix the road that the butt ripped up as it went over. The dirt around the butt in the last photo will be landscaped back against the edge of the reinstated road.

Depends entirely upon the work you do. My engcon wouldn’t have made a penny difference to the profitability of this tree job, but the multione really earnt her corn today.

I don’t regret buying loaders first. Engcon isn’t the be all and end all.

Yeah. I can’t stand it. I do stuff on a day rate but starting at £500 and that weeds out customers who don’t appreciate what i bring to the party.
Not trying to ruffle feathers but I thought most if not all owner ops where of that mindset.
Enjoying using great kit to do a great job.

No i agree - ive been on my own 20+ years and have only just got one, some things are more important, but we were talking about tiltrotator's.

I think all this comes down to the type of work you undertake. I'm quite happy to spend money if I think it's going to be worth it but I can categorically say that for 90% of the work I undertake the tilty would not be earning it's keep.. I buy a shitty £5k dumper because I know that it's an easy extra £100 to add on the daily income (I don't do day rates really) and the days it's required are plentiful. A tilty is £14k for say my TB228 and the right work just isn't there for it. I don't do any site work, it's all agri environmental based and for that the level of faffing isn't present enough to make it worth having a tilty on any of the machines to make life easier. Working around buildings, utilities, landscaping I'd probably think again.

Agreed 👍 but thats a bit different to your initial post about the problem with tiltys.

Why wouldn't you, their money is just as good as any others. So long as you've a happy customer at the end of the day and you've earned a nice bit then what's to not like.
Because over the last few years ive found it painful on my 3t with manual hitch when I know there is a better way, but everyone is different.
