Tipping trailer

I'm looking to add a tipping trailer to the menagerie.

I don't like big and cumbersome. So I'm after 8x5 size. Any recommendations, new is looking eye watering.

Would I be unrealistic thinking you can physically fit 2t of muck/sand/stone on an 8x5?

I’ve got exactly that in the form of an Indespension tipping trailer
And 2T of any aggregate or soils fits on it easily
Mines a 2006 and keep it maintained well with regular serving and tyres etc.

you can still get 3.5t gross in the smaller ifor tipper . That would give you 2.6t load tt3017 10ftx5ft8
That is smaller than my tipper which I don’t find too big at all and it is 3.6m x 2m

With how things are currently going an 8x5 tipper may suit my needs better than ever before. Never had much to do with tipper trailers bar the one I used to borrow of my mate...was a 10x6 and I don't want that size.

Whatever you have as long as you can fit a digger on it too is the main thing. Quite an efficient setup on the right jobs

I was running my mini on the tipper trailer but it is actually much nicer towed on the plant trailer . It is handy though to know for a small job you can take the mini on the tipping trailer and then use it to remove spoil or take material back in without needing the second trailer

With how things are currently going an 8x5 tipper may suit my needs better than ever before. Never had much to do with tipper trailers bar the one I used to borrow of my mate...was a 10x6 and I don't want that size.

I can't remember who they are now but one of the smaller trailer manufacturers had an advert on Facebook for an 8x5 but 3.5t instead of 2.7t like most the bigger manufacturers

I have the TT2515 (8 x 5 tipper) with Mesh Sides. Think ours is 2018. Takes 2 ton of soil (JUST) 2000kg of stone sits well below the sides. Its also useful as a small flatbed with sides removed and tows very nicely. I dont much like putting the digger on it, much prefer the plant trailer Its the right size for behind Transits being a 2700kg. I would like a 10x5 3500kg tipper instead if I am honest as we tend to only use it behind the Dmax now.

I had a ifor 8x5 but didnt like it with a micro on , It seemed to lean over alarmingly but was nice to tow/reverse with muck on. I think there missing a trick not making a 8x6 3.5t.

Yeah I wasn't thinking to replace plant trailers. But the ability to be able to take one to a given job and move muck around has its benefits. Saves another trip for a dumper if job suits

Yeah, definitely a bonus. Sometimes I'll do the same with the grab lorry and take the digger out on it, lift it off do the do then grab the muck.

Could you not just do your class 1. Seeing as you already own the lorry and the trailers you would save a lot of time. Digger and dumper in one trip. Digger and materials in one trip or muckaway in one trip.

Yes and no.

I will at some point get round to it but it's not something that's hindering me, just venting my annoyance at car drivers been allowed to tow 3.5t freely now but I can't tow more than 750kg behind the lorry.

The only jobs where I take the digger on the back of the lorry is generally a quick in and out and always room to put the digger back on with the muck.
Anything else its generally a case of machines on job already and the lorry just purely moves muck/brings aggregates in or I'm moving muck or delivering for others

The need of a tipper trailer isn't for these type of jobs. I'm after one to go behind the pick up/4x4 and it's for taking materials as needed on my price jobs ect. It would also give alot more legal payload over the 3.5t tipper truck.

Mate has an 8x5 ifor tipper. Think they are all a 2.7t gross but carries 2t of material ok, bed is a bit high, which is good for loading barrows but bit high for transporting tall stuff, the Brian James is around 70mm+ lower which makes a fair bit of difference or was at the time I bought mine no idea on newer models

I don't think the wider ifor tippers are to bad with a digger on tbh. Not the first choice but that is more to do with getting the ramps out. And never being entirely happy with the strapping points.

I used to tow my 1.5 ton kubota in a 10x5 ifor tipper, towed nice enough but it was behind my 2.4 110 HD Defender, most planted tow car I've had. That truck and trailer combo was quite happy fully loaded at the speed limit and very maneuverable.
10×5 is a fantastic size for a general purpose trailer, I managed to pick up a brand new ifor non tipper 10 x 5 with sides for £2400 just before the new prices shot up, I'd not let it go for a penny less.

The ramps are a pain and bloody heavy!
Am I the only one that uses an old number plate to hold the retainer up as I pull them out the holder? Makes it so much easier!

I used to have steel ramps on the LM126. Heavy. Got 6ft and 8ft ally ramps now and very easy, but quite slippy sometimes and think they have a weight limit.
