Small claims court- anyone done it?

Not a huge amount, just £280 plus VAT for a days digger and driver but it's the principle. I have his buisiness address (I hope).Can't be arsed to drive over to knock on his door as it's 45 mins away.

Is it simple enough to do online? Might just be the kick up the arse he needs when he sees I'm serious.

nail the bar steward Ruben (y) ..... or he'll just keep on doing it .... a CCJ makes a huge difference to peoples ability to do much after they have it ;) .. for a long time :eek:

Got the same thing at the moment.
If your with direct line for you public liability they do the relevant paperwork for free if not there is a few templates online or companies doing the letters for a few quid.
You have to give them 30 days then send the first reminder, they then have 2 weeks then you send the second letter. It's another 2 weeks then you can send the letter before action which is another 4 weeks then you can go down the small claims court route

used to use a small company in Cheltenham who specialised in this ..... long gone I'm afraid, but ALWAYS got a result :giggle: and costs :cool: (y)

No, part of the original fee (that is added onto claim amount) I felt I had done nothing wrong to deserve non-payment so there wasn’t really any mediating to do I just flat out said I wanted the full amount and would go to court over it!

Sent him warning email, he replied saying he had been forced into closing the business. I agreed 60% next day to cover the costs of the job, which he did send. Whether that was bollocks or not I don't know, but a cheap life lesson nevertheless.

anything is better than sod all Ruben ..... I'd call that a reasonable result, if he has indeed ceased trading ..... be worth inquiring a few months down the road ..... and maybe chasing the other 40% if he is feeding you a load of bollocks ;)

Yes 60 percent of a few hundred quid is a lesson learned

If that was a few grand or tens of grands be very different

id still small claims him, it can all be done online and you add the cost to his bill.
