Had a client interested in this product, had a few over the years in fact, but the latest client seems to think it will be better than the usual, geotextile/stone/gravel we do at present.
Anyone used it ? Is it a pita or any good, or even good but pita ? Opinions please.

Is that 25mm stuff?
We are about to do a drive the prices for the grids vary between 1300 to over 4k!

Is it all in kinda material? Anymore spec on it?
Tbh convincing them to use any for of gravel grid is usually the hardest part

I've used Coredrive 50 on domestic driveways a few times, works really well but has got really expensive now with the price of plastics gone up since 2020.
Easy enough to lay though, good product.

They used it on the house opposite mine to install a resin bound drive straight onto crush concrete. Looks good but waiting to see how long it lasts and how long it stays porous

My mate runs mats grids in chesterfield so get good rates just priced 120m2 job for trust used to be £7m2 but now £10m2 to me

Wouldn’t do a gravel drive without them

Did these ones recently to fix a rutting track on a camp site and this is them after a busy season. Before was 6-10” wheel ruts from traffic and water run off

Ive always dug them, laid geotextile then about 10cm 0/60mm - 4-5cm of 0-20mm and finished with 3cm gravel.
Never had any rutting with that spec tbh.
Not sure on the m2 yet till i measure up but hopefully the cost will put him off ...seems a bit of a pita if you have to manually screed a sand bed off before laying it.

Ive used what looks like the same product, supplied by CED stone, they can't seem to decide wether its called Cedagravel or eccogravel ? it differs from the grids as the geotextile is bonded to the underside.
only used it on paths, easy enough to lay and having the membrane attached seams to hold it in place well which is always my concern with the standard grids, can't see why it wouldn't work on a drive. Usual BS about weed suppression, the geotextile does a great job of retaining all the muck that accumulates and provides a great seed bed or they just grow through from below.

You don’t have to do that we just do it for better job can just be laid on graded mot.

Spot on with the weed job ....weedkiller banned in france now and everyone seems to think there is another way to control them.

glyphosate banned so afaik thats the chemical in them all.
Farmers can still use it.
Most villages here have a no chemical policy nowadays.

I think some of them come on the roll so half way there. Not sure on the quality as obviously more flexible than the crates

Not seen it on a roll, would have to be thinner I would think, Cedagravel comes in large sheets, much less Labour intensive than the crates.

Actual depth about the same but the retaining cells are made of considerably thinner stuff almost like milk bottle plastic.
Also had some stuff the came flat packed. Just strips 9f fibrous material stapled together and when you pulled it out it expanded to make lots of pockets. I think this would be light foot traffic only though.

The expanding type is available in much larger sizes maybe 150 + deep often specified for root protection areas, works well filled with large single size as a base layer.
But as @Gunners said all this plastic stuff has become frighteningly expensive now, just to throw in the ground !

This style of mesh is very common in germany.
My guess is that it's due to the sub-zero winters that crack asphalt and concrete, but the loose gravel just moves a bit without any damage.
