Yeah that’s normal way, was before we took over here which was 2009 ish

Pumps just don’t work across factory layout with resin floors have to be up on pallets stop scratching etc then cleanup of pump etc

Voli had no other jobs today so no waiting time etc

We had boom pump they knew we were getting to end so no more concrete then blew last out with compressed air then he put boom straight up and put end in hopper filled it with water and pumped it around a few times then sucker hall back stopped it before pump got ball out job done

surprising sometimes how much the pump holds when you get a decent run of pipe!

I find it's all dependent on who's running the pump. Normally it's some tosser who wants to drop half a cube on the customer's drive/lawn but the clued up/helpful guys are able to stop filling the hopper at the right time and pump down/blow out the right amount where you want it so there's minimal mess.

The ready mix firm I normally use have their own pump and the lads are spot on, every job is a doddle. I dread going out of their area and having to use some unknown pump firm.

Some of the biggest rows I have had on site were with pump drivers. Most of them don't seem to have worked out that we pay for the pump to make life easier not harder

Sad today - My 2011 Niflisk Hot Washer died. Its been playing up this year - stopped firing hot, never got round to sorting it. Then the fuel tank split and it dumped its fuel. Doesn't shut off properly. Last week the hose blew a hole in the middle of the length, then Friday it wouldn't run. Found the main heat exchanger full of water right up to the exhaust. Time for it to go. Upgraded to a Karcher 7/10MX which seems a fair beast. Runs lovely and hot. Washed the old one off with the new one before it went away as a trade in.

Made a good start on this job. Cleared a path through man height brambles alongside the ditch which is the emergency spillway that prevents runoff from the hill behind from flooding the development. Suggested to them that it would be a good idea of reveal it and clean it out a bit whilst in there!

Then got on with pushing over whatever roadside ash I could. There’s a few more that will come easy tomorrow and then half a dozen that will need the MEWP. Then there’s another set of overhanging trees against the side of the development that will deffo need the MEWP- that’s Wednesdays job. Tomorrow I’ll get the rest of the timber away, go over the ditch with the v bucket and make a nice level path for the MEWP.

Took the dam out and started tidying up, the 4 hook bag lifter has been awesome handling these big heavy wet bags no snapped hoops etc and so much quicker than threading chains etc

Reminds me of how I used to handle my bulk bags of logs with my 1.5 ton kubota with careful use of all movements, leveling up with the blade and the slope of the barn I used to be able to stack them 3 high!

My bag lifter was home made from some of a 6m length of 150mm by 50mm box that had been a transport bar on a 2 part acoustic enclosure that we put in in Peterhead- a well travelled bit of steel that, Colchester to Peterhead, back to Hertford!
(While we were up there, june 2014, we saw the somewhat unusual sight of a 16 wheeled crane, wheels in the air, was something to see but you've got to feel sorry for the owners/driver )

Are you using the new forwarder?

I would love to but it’s not worth the move.

The roadside stuff is just that- roadside. So easiest to load the truck with the digger after stacking it next to the entrance. I wouldn’t be able to get the forwarder side on to load a truck either, there’s only 8ft max.

And I snuck the ranger in yesterday after grading the bank a little. This lets me pick up stuff from the other side of the plot where I’m removing it from next to the houses.

It’s seems barely worth running the firewood back to the yard in such small quantities, but there’s no other way of moving it as no staging area. I can’t stand to see it wasted, it’s processor grade, and if you can find processor grade ash it’s £80 per ton delivered in.
